After pitching a scoreless ninth for his 20th save of the season, Sean Doolittle reported feeling pain in his side after throwing his second to last pitch of the night.
Doolittle looked fine for the most part but noticeably winced and reached for his side after throwing his next-to-last pitch. He closed out the game for his 20th save of the season, but will now be evaluated for either a rib or oblique injury. Fantasy owners may want to grab Luke Gregerson as insurance, but Doolittle reportedly passed initial tests and said he felt fine.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Stephen Voigt went 3-for-5 with a home run, five RBI and one run scored in the Athletics 8-6 loss to the Twins on Monday.
Voigts first inning grand slam gave him seven home runs on the season to go along with 25 RBI and an impressive .372 average. The Athletics surprisingly traded away catcher Derek Norris to the Padres in the offseason which left the starting catcher job to Voigt who impressed during stretches of last season before being hobbled with an injury which clearly affected his production. The power is real with Voigt which is something many expected from him with every day at bats but the batting average and overall productiveness has been a welcomed site and has made him an early fantasy darling to his owners. While there is certainly going to be some regression in his average there is little doubt he will reach the 20 home run plateau which should rank him among the league leads at the position.
