Update: Initial tests on Sam Bradford's knee did not show damage to his surgically repaired ACL. He's scheduled for an MRI.

The initial reports coming in are at least positive and the level of concern has probably subsided a little. However, before we give him the clean bill of health, we'll wait to hear results of the tests from Sunday. ANALYST: Howard Bender

Buccaneers backup quarterback Mike Glennon is happy in Tampa and won't ask for a trade this summer.

Sometimes it is nice just being the backup and it appears that Glennon is embracing the role. With rookie Jameis Winston ready to lead Tampa Bay's offense, Glennon will once again be a reserve, but he's only an injury away from being back in the saddle. Analysis: David Kerr

Head coach John Harbaugh said Jimmy Smith is ahead of schedule in rehab from Lisfranc foot sprain that required surgery.

The Ravens have said that Smith is ahead of schedule, so this is certainly great news for the team. Smith signed a $41.1 million dollar extension this past offseason, so clearly neither party was worried about his foot. He should be back to full strength by the start of training camp. Analysis: David Kerr

Eagles LB DeMeco Ryans (Achilles') was a partial participant in practice on Thursday.

A partial participant is better than one that is sitting on the sidelines. Ryans ruptured his Achilles just seven months ago, but it already almost back to full strength. The Eagles aren't going to rush him, but it's a foregone conclusion that barring a setback, he'll be ready for the start of the regular season. Analysis: David Kerr

Jeff Bianchi was designated for assignment on Thursday.

The Red Sox needed a spot on their 40-man roster to call up Carlos Peguero, so Bianchi was DFA'd. It is highly doubtful that anyone will claim him, so he'll likely ultimately end up back in Triple-A Pawtucket. Analysis: David Kerr

Phil Klein was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.

Klein was scheduled to start on Saturday, but those plans appear to be squashed. He made two starts for the Rangers, over the last week and a half, but it's pretty obvious that Texas didn't view him as a long term option. It is likely that we'll see him back up with the big league club at some point this year. Analysis: David Kerr

Hanser Alberto was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.

This is Alberto's first shot in the big leagues. He was batting .303/.321/.421 at Triple-A Round Rock prior to his call up and figures to only serve as a pinch hitter and defensive replacement, at least in the short-term. Phil Klein was optioned back to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Analysis: David Kerr

La'el Collins has been thrown into the fire at right tackle with starter Doug Free recovering from offseason ankle surgery.

Someone has to step up and Collins is going to be given the chance to do exactly that. The rookie is looking to make a strong impact and Free's injury is going to give him the opportunity to do so. Though Collins is going to get plenty of work in at right tackle, it seems as though left guard will be the position that he settles in at. Analysis: David Kerr

Redskins signed defensive backs Tajh Hasson and Thomas Wolfe.

Both were undrafted free agent and neither has seen any type of real NFL experience outside of a practice squad role. It's anyone's guess whether they will last on the Redskins' roster until training camp, but even if they do, they'll likely be cut at some point. Analysis: David Kerr

Jonathan Lucroy went 1-for-3 and caught five innings in his first rehab game.

This is a solid step towards his return to the Brewers. If all goes well, Lucroy is slated to rejoin the Brewers on Monday when the team begins a three-game series with St. Louis.  Analysis: David Kerr

Braves have put Elmer Reyes on the restricted list after his arrest on rape and kidnapping charges last weekend.

Being on the restricted list is the least of Reyes' problems at this point. We'll see how the legal system plays out here, but these are serious charges brought against Reyes. He won't be playing baseball for the foreseeable future. Analysis: David Kerr

Pelicans interviewed Vinny Del Negro for vacant head coaching job.

Del Negro last coached in the NBA for the Clippers from 2010-2013. It doesn't appear that there is a real front runner for the Pelicans' head coaching job, but along with Del Negro, both Jeff Van Gundy and Alvin Gentry have been linked to the job. Analysis: David Kerr

Update: Xander Bogaerts has been diagnosed with a bruised left forearm.

This is definitely the best case scenario. Bogaerts was plunked in the second inning of Thursday's game, but initially stayed in. He was later removed and replaced by Carlos Peguero who went to left field, while Brock Holt came in to play shortstop. Analysis: David Kerr

Trey DePriest went unclaimed off waivers and is a free agent again.

No surprise here as DePriest was known to have conditioning issues prior to the NFL Draft. It's likely that DePriest will find another home soon, but he will probably bounce around a lot looking for work. Analysis: David Kerr

Brewers ooutrighted RHP Rob Wooten to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Wooten has given up eight earned runs in six innings for the Brewers this year, so Milwaukee will send him back to Triple-A in hope that he corrects his issues on the mound. It's possible that we'll see him again this season, but Wooten is nothing more than organizational depth. Analysis: David Kerr
