Yu Darvish (elbow) has not started a throwing program at this point, and there is no timetable for his return.
Not a good sign, if you are a Darvish owner. He is potentially out until early September, at best. Still some time to collect stats, but time is running out on his season.ANALYST: Ivar G. Anderson
Henry Owens will make his spring-training debut Friday.
While Owens' ERA jumped with his move to Triple-A last season, his K:BB spiked, leaving the Red Sox believing that he could be ready fro a jump to the majors soon. He'll debut this spring but will likely open the year at Triple-A to hone his craft. Should he dominate, the team could potentially bring him up for the second half. Analysis: Howard Bender
Hank Conger is dealing with a sore left wrist.
With the Astros saying that Evan Gattis will not play behind the plate at all this season, Conger steps in as the unequivocal back-up to Jason Castro. He's not really competing with Max Stassi who is seeing time in camp right now. Conger is day-to-day but should be just fine in a few days. Analysis: Howard Bender
