Jake Peavy held the Cubs to two runs on ten hits and no walks with eight strikeouts over seven innings in a 8-3 win at Wrigley field on Wednesday.
Peavy scores well here with the quality start and the eight strikeouts and no walks, but 10 hits? Man, that's a lot and that's a lot pitching himself out of a ton of jams, isn't it? Credit the defense for assistance on eight ground ball outs and throw some criticisms at the Cubs for some hacking, but Peavy comes away with his second-straight win as well as quality start. He'll face the Rockies his next time out, though fortunately, a home start for him. ANALYST: Howard Bender
Marc Krauss went 1-for-4 with a solo home run on Thursday in Toronto.
Krauss is hitting only .150 with a .350 slugging percentage after launching his first home run of the season. It was just his seventh game of the season, but there’s no doubt he’ll need to cut down on the strikeouts if he’s ever going to be able to showcase the decent pop he has. The left-handed hitter was called up from AAA to try and infuse some offense in Anaheim and was slugging .639 over his past 10 games. With Matt Joyce really struggling, expect Krauss to steal some of his at-bats over the next few weeks. Analysis: Kevin Luchansky
