Jake Peavy held the Cubs to two runs on ten hits and no walks with eight strikeouts over seven innings in a 8-3 win at Wrigley field on Wednesday.
Peavy scores well here with the quality start and the eight strikeouts and no walks, but 10 hits? Man, that's a lot and that's a lot pitching himself out of a ton of jams, isn't it? Credit the defense for assistance on eight ground ball outs and throw some criticisms at the Cubs for some hacking, but Peavy comes away with his second-straight win as well as quality start. He'll face the Rockies his next time out, though fortunately, a home start for him. ANALYST: Howard Bender
Wade Davis will take over as the Royals' closer with Greg Holland on the 15-day disabled list.
Davis is instantly vaulted into top-5 closer status while he is closing, and has just as much value as Holland would have in the ninth inning. Davis is downright dominant, and could have the job for quite a while, as although the severity of Greg Holland's pectoral strain is unknown, Holland is expected to be out for a significant chunk of time. Davis should obviously now be owned in all leagues, and the biggest question about the job for now is whether Davis will hold onto the gig once Holland returns. Analysis: Ben Diamond
