Cole Hamels improved to 7-6 after allowing three runs on nine hits and a walk with four strikeouts over five innings on Wednesday against the Mariners.
Hamels didn't have best stuff against a Mariners team that traditionally struggles against left-handed pitchers -- especially ones of Hamels's caliber. He looks just like the guy who was contending for Cy-Youngs a few seasons ago. Run support will continue to be an issue in Philidephia, but it doesn't get much safer than his southpaw.ANALYST:
Cameron Maybin went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday’s 7-1 loss to the Mets.
Maybin is seeing plenty of time in center field for the Braves right now, as he is a strong defensive player with exceptional range. At the plate, he has been anything but consistent, going just 4-for-28 over the last eight games. However, Maybin has displayed an unexpected power stroke, as three of those hits have left the yard. With enough at-bats, the fleet-footed 28 year old could have a shot at 15/15 production with regards to homers and steals. Analysis: Nate Miller
