UPDATES & NEWS
Ian Desmond was a fantasy hero Tuesday going 3-for-4 with four RBI, stolen base, walk, and a run scored in the Nationals 8-1 triumph over the Diamondbacks.
Desmond has now hit safely in eight of his last nine games, with Tuesday's performance being the third time he logged two or more hits in that stretch. Now sitting on a .251 average with 20 home runs and 77 RBI, Desmond remains one of the best options to deploy at shortstop, whether or not he keeps up his recent hitting streak. ANALYST: Matthew Beck
Jed Lowrie left Monday's game with a thumb injury. He's going back to Houston Tuesday for an MRI.
In all likelihood Jonathan Villar or Marwin Gonzalez will fill in for Lowrie if he misses extended time, but there's an outside chance the first-place Astros call up uber-prospect Carlos Correa for his first major league taste. Correa is murdering the Texas League (Double-A) to the tune of .375/.429/.719 with four home runs and two stolen bases. He's worth a speculative add in competitive leagues until the situation becomes more clear. Astros GM Jeff Luhnow has hinted that he wouldn't be scared to "lift" Correa straight from Double-A at some point. Analysis: Spencer Silva
