Miami Dolphins reached an injury settlement with QB Pat Devlin and waived him from injured reserve.

Devlin was dealing with an injured hamstring and was ultimately waived after the team signed Brady Quinn.ANALYST: Jonathan Impemba

Buster Posey has come out of Wednesday's game. No reason has been given yet.

Posey was replaced by Andrew Susac but it's obviously concerning to Posey owners that he was forced from the game. We will await word from the Giants for the reasoning. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

The Suns have reportedly closed the gap in pursuit of LaMarcus Aldridge.

An earlier report had the Suns meeting with Aldridge with newly signed Tyson Chandler in toe in an effort to entice Aldridge into signing. The Suns had one of the smaller front courts in the NBA last year so the signing of Chandler and Aldridge would really change the dynamic of that offense. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Aaron Barrett made a rehab appearance on Wednesday striking out two in one inning.

Barrett has struggled out of the Nationals bullpen this season, going 3-2 with a 5.06 ERA over 30 appearances. In 2014 he was among the Nationals best relievers, going 3-0 with a 2.66 ERA over 50 games. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Jake Odorizzi gave up one run in four innings in his first rehab start on Wednesday.

Odorizzi is a few weeks from returning to the Rays rotation which is getting Matt Moore back on Thursday. The return of these two starters will bolster an already strong Rays rotation that is lead by A.L. Cy Young candidate Chris Archer. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Manager Don Mattingly said he expects Carlos Frias to make his next start.

Frias has failed to make it out of the sixth inning in any of his last four starts, allowing 13 earned runs over 20.2 innings. Overall this season Frias has gone 5-5 with a 4.39 ERA. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Astros will promote Dan Straily to start against the Red Sox on Friday.

Straily has been just "OK" at Triple-A this season, going 6-6 with a 4.06 ERA while striking out 70 over 77.2 innings. He will face a Red Sox team that had been struggling offensively this season but is currently hitting much better of late. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Nelson Cruz went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and two runs scored on Wednesday afternoon against the Padres.

It’s good to see that Cruz’s bat is heating up again, as after a slight slump all throughout June, he is riding a five game hitting streak and now hit his first home run since June 20th. Fantasy owners were beginning to show signs of concern, when Cruz only homered once throughout the entire month of June, but on Wednesday afternoon, he proved that he is ready to turn the calendar and do July the right way, as he went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and two runs scored. Analysis: Dom Murtha

Clippers have agreed to a deal with Paul Pierce.

Pierce is joining up with Doc Rivers in L.A. where he will likely find himself in a similar role that he had with the Wizards last season. With Washington Pierce averaged 11.9 points, 2.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 three-pointers over 26.2 minutes per game but came up big time during the playoffs, averaging 14.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.3 three-pointers per game. The "Truth" will bring plenty of playoff experience and clutch shot making ability to a team which has failed to meet expectations in the postseason. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Billy Burns went 2-for-4 with a triple, a double, a walk and two runs scored on Wednesday against the Rockies.

Burns continues to ride this hot streak and owners should continue to stick with him. He is producing across the board, as seen by his .320 average, 34 runs scored, two bombs, 15 RBI and 16 stolen bases. Continue to start him while he is hot. Analysis: Colby Conway

Robinson Cano went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBI, and two runs scored on Wednesday afternoon against the Padres.

Getting clocked in the head on Sunday must have knocked something back into place for the perennial All-Star second baseman, as on Wednesday afternoon he went 4-for-5 with three RBI and a triple shy of the cycle. The home run was his fifth of the season, and the best sign of all was that it was hit the opposite way with some serious authority. Cano’s issue for most of this season is that he appeared pull happy, where he would often roll his hands over and couldn’t protect the outside part of the plate. If he can continue going the other way and peppering the ball all over the yard like he did on Wednesday afternoon, expect yet another historic second half for the second baseman.  Analysis: Dom Murtha
