Freddie Freeman went 1-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a run scored against the A's on Friday.
Freeman has really turned up the heat in the month of August, slashing .392/.456/.627 with eight extra-base hits (2 HR), eight RBI and six runs scored over 51 at-bats. Although it is very unlikely he will reach 30 home runs (only 17 HR on the year) like many experts predicted for the Braves 24-year-old first baseman, his production is good enough to make him one of the better first baseman to own down the stretch. Cecil Shorts might be ready to play against Jacksonville in Week 6.
Both Shorts and Nate Washington missed Thursday's game, making way for Jaelen Strong and Keith Mumphery. While strong caught two TDs, Mumphery was a non-factor. Strong earned himself more playing time in the coming weeks, possibly coming at Shorts' expense, though it could come at Washington's as coach Bill O'Brien said that Shorts had a better chance of playing against Jacksonville than Washington does.
