Fantasy Player Updates & News

Rob Gronkowski (knee), who has yet to be cleared for contact, is among the Patriots not expected to suit up for Friday night's preseason game against the Eagles.

If he hasn't been cleared for contact, then why is he suiting up? More Bill Belichick nonsense here. Gronkowski will be a non-factor once again.ANALYST: Howard Bender

Redskins cut DT Daryl Waud with left squad designation.

Waud is no more than positional depth for an organization who needs some help on their defensive line. He should not be drafted in any IDP leagues this upcoming season. Analysis: Colby Conway

Manager Craig Counsell is thinking about skipping Matt Garza the next time through the rotation.

Garza has been struggling of late and there is a chance that he is pitching through injury. He has allowed nine earned runs on 13 hits in his last 11.1 innings pitched. Owners of Garza might want to consider sitting him for a start or continue to wait for an update if he does get his next start skipped. He is 2-7 with a 6.00 ERA and 1.58 WHIP on the season. Analysis: Colby Conway

Jeremy Kerley missed organized team activities Wednesday due to personal reasons.

Kerley caught 38 passes for 409 yards and one touchdown last season, but he will struggle to get those numbers this season. Kerley will be the number three wide receiver since the team brought in Brandon Marshall to solidify a shaky receiving core. Draft Kerley as no more than a WR4 or WR5. Analysis: Colby Conway

Melvin Hunt is currently the front-runner for the Nuggets' coaching job.

The team has also been linked to Mike D’Antoni, but Hunt is still considered to be the front runner of the job. Hunt was 10-13 when being named the interim manager and he will need a lot of help to get this team where they want to be. It all starts with them having the seventh selection in the upcoming NBA draft. Analysis: Colby Conway

Update: Carlos Peguero will be on Boston's major league roster.

With the Red Sox dealing with injuries in their outfield, they are going to give Peguero a chance. The Rangers cut ties with him after he struck out in just under 43-percent of the times he came to the plate in the first 30 games of the season. He is one of those guys who has incredible raw power, but he is boom-or-bust and is going to be a drain on your batting average. However, no playing time is guaranteed, so he should be left off most rosters. Analysis: Colby Conway

Steve Tolleson was unavailable for Wednesday's game due to a tweaked groin.

The Blue Jays have been using Tolleson and Munenori Kawasaki at the keystone since Devon Travis went on the DL, but neither have done much. Tolleson is hitting .268 on the year with three RBI, but this groin injury might keep out of the lineup for the time being. Consider him day-to-day at the moment. Analysis: Colby Conway

Mike Catapano (gastrointestinal virus) was able to participate in the team's OTA on Wednesday.

Catapano dealt with a gastrointestinal virus that discovered in camp last season, then went on injured reserve due to a concussion. After an unhealthy 2014 campaign, Catapano is looking to return to the field this season and make an impact on an already pretty stout Chiefs defense. He has no real value in IDP leagues to begin the season. Analysis: Colby Conway

Shelvin Mack suffered separated right shoulder in Tuesday night's game. He will have surgery next week.

Mack was a backup to starting point guard Jeff Teague and he played pretty well. In roughly 15 minutes per game, he averaged 5.4 points, 2.8 assists and 1.4 rebounds per game. Until he is a regular starter, his fantasy value will remain low. Analysis: Colby Conway

Update: Kyle Korver had surgery to repair ligament damage in his ankle and will be out three months.

Losing Korver was a huge blow to the Hawks and it definitely affected their game plan for the rest of that series with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Korver had a solid year for the Hawks, averaging 12.1 points per game while shooting 49.2 percent from beyond the arc. Korver will continue to be a solid source of threes when he returns next season. Analysis: Colby Conway

Sammy Solis (shoulder inflammation) threw off flat ground on Wednesday.

Solis went on the DL with this inflammation on Friday, retroactive tom 18th. He could return to the team during the first week of June, but that seems rather optimistic at the moment. He was 1-0 with a 5.00 ERA and 1.11 WHIP before going on the DL. He has little fantasy value pitching in a loaded Washington bullpen. Analysis: Colby Conway

Colts signed first-round wide receiver Phillip Dorsett.

Dorsett is known for his excellent speed that he showcased while at the University of Miami. The Indy receiving core is pretty packed, so Dorsett’s expectations for his rookie year should be held in check. Last season for the Hurricanes, he caught 36 passes for 871 yards and 10 touchdowns. He would need an injury or two to become seriously fantasy relevant, seeing that he will be no higher than their number four receiver at the start of this season. Analysis: Colby Conway

Martellus Bennett has not attended any of the team's offseason workouts as he waits for a new contract.

Bennett was expected to be a no-show as he is requesting a new contract. He had his best year as a professional in 2014, catching 90 passes for 916 yards and six touchdowns. He was sent to the Pro Bowl in 2014 as well. Chicago personnel expect him to be a Chicago Bear this season, seeing that he hasn’t requested a trade right now. He can be viewed as a TE1 for the upcoming season. Analysis: Colby Conway

Lorenzo Taliaferro and rookie Javorius Allen will battle for the Ravens' backup running back position.

Justin Forsett will rightly return as the starter while the two aforementioned name will compete for the backup gig. Taliaferro picked up 292 yards on 68 carries last season, good for a 4.29 YPC before a foot injury ended his season in 2014. Forsett will clearly be the running back to own in Baltimore, but the backup will also be an important handcuff option. Analysis: Colby Conway

Browns' linebacker Keith Pough reverted to injured reserve from waived-injured after going unclaimed off waivers.

Pough spent 15 weeks on the Browns practice squad last season, and he seems destined for that type of role again in 2015. He is currently dealing with a hamstring issue, so he will need to prove that he is over that before he garners any sort of consideration. Analysis: Colby Conway
