Jurickson Profar will start his throwing program on Thursday.
Who's this guy? Oh yeah! Now we remember! The one-time shortstop/second baseman of the future has been out with basically a broken shoulder all season and is still going to miss the entire regular season. While starting up a throwing program is a step in the right direction, the earliest you'll see him back on the field in a game will probably be in the Arizona Fall League. If he has any setbacks then, he could end up playing winter ball somewhere under strict team supervision.ANALYST: Howard Bender
The Dodgers have traded LHP Xavier Cedeno to the Rays for cash.
The Dodgers had designated Cedeno for assignment to make room on their 40-man roster for Sergio Santos. Cedeno has a 5.24 ERA in 55 career big-league innings across five seasons. He has 8.84 K/9 over his career, but he needs to cut back on the walks if he is ever going to have a meaningful bullpen role in the big leagues. The Rays have a deep bullpen that is only going to get deeper when Jake McGee returns, and there is little chance Cedeno makes an impact this season. Analysis: Steve Pimental
The Celtics are willing to trade a first rounder to dump Gerald Wallace.
Wallace played just 32 games this season for a Celtics team largely devoid of talent. The Celtics have a couple of first-rounders to spare, but that still seems like a high price to pay just to get rid of him. Wallace is unlikely to play much wherever he ends up, but it is always possible a change of scenery could be just what he needs. Wallace and a pick could be an enticing package for the Knicks and Lakers, both teams with cap space desperately in need of warm bodies and draft picks. Wallace could even have fringe fantasy value with one of those teams. Analysis: Steve Pimental
