Orioles placed Manny Machado on the 15-day disabled list with a right knee sprain.
This move was expected and currently the Orioles have not mentioned anything in terms of a possible return date or if he will return this season at all. Manny was beginning to turn it on over the past month and a half hitting .356 with 14 runs, five home runs and 15 RBI since he returned to the lineup on July 5th.ANALYST: Jonathan Impemba
T.J. House allowed three runs and four hits with four walks and three strikeouts in three innings against the Tigers on Saturday.
House has been awful through three starts, and he may not get too many more as the Indians originally planned to skip this turn in the rotation for House. That’s too bad because House showed a lot of positives last year. His walk rate was much better than average and supported by a good first pitch strike rate. And his strikeout rate was close to league average and came along with an above average swinging strike rate. He also induces a ton of groundballs. Groundballs, swinging strikes, and few walks? That’s everything we’re looking for. If the Indians remain patient with House, you should as well and keep an eye on him. Analysis: Brett Talley
Manager Paul Molitor said he considered batting Joe Mauer leadoff on Saturday.
Mauer gets on base a lot and will hit for a good average, which is what you look for in a leadoff hitter, but his lack of speed means that he probably will never leadoff more than just a couple times a year. Danny Santana, who was expected to lead off for the Twins this season, has struggled at the plate thus far and has yet to take a walk. Santana could be moved down in the order if he can't get it going on offensive. Analysis: Ben Diamond
