Orioles placed Manny Machado on the 15-day disabled list with a right knee sprain.

This move was expected and currently the Orioles have not mentioned anything in terms of a possible return date or if he will return this season at all. Manny was beginning to turn it on over the past month and a half hitting .356 with 14 runs, five home runs and 15 RBI since he returned to the lineup on July 5th.ANALYST: Jonathan Impemba

Patrick Corbin returned to the mound with Monday's extended spring game, and now feels that he is closing in on a rehab assignment with a Minor League affiliate.

It is pretty obvious that his original target date of June 4th is not going to happen. He is making slow but steady progress in his rehab and Dave Stewart said, "it's important to be sure we're not putting him in a position to once again hurt himself. If he needs a few extra days in between starts, that's what we're going to give him."  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Jung-Ho Kang is not in the Pirates starting lineup Wednesday.

Jordy Mercer has had a hard a time seeing the field with Jung-Ho Kang seeing the ball so well. Kang's average has dropped 20 points in the past two weeks. He's hitting .281/.352/.421 with four steals, three homers and 17 RBI in 114 at-bats. Mercer will get a chance to play shortstop this afternoon. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Starling Marte is not in the Pirates starting lineup Wednesday.

There is nothing to be concerned about here. The Pirates are giving him a much needed day off in hopes of getting him out of his 0-for-20 slump. Jose Tabata will play left field.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Trent Williams said he lost 20 pounds this off season. He's down to 325.

Trent Williams is one of the league's top left tackles and he's coming into a contract year. The Redskins and GM Scot McCloughan know they will have to open up their pockets and take care of their own. If they are not able to work out a deal, the Redskins will slap the franchise tag on him next off-season.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Greg Hardy (illness) missed Cowboys practice Wednesday.

The illness seems like nothing to be concerned over. The most important news is that Peter King believes Greg Hardy will get either two or four games removed from his 10-game domestic violence suspension. The appeal is set for Thursday and will be heard by league-appointed arbitrator Harold Henderson. This is the same arbitrator that upheld the NFL's penalty for Adrian Peterson. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Mark Trumbo is not in the Diamondbacks starting lineup Wednesday.

Trumbo is getting the afternoon off against Mike Foltynewicz and the Atlanta Braves. There have been a lot of rumors swirling about Trumbo's trade value but nothing substantial as of yet. The Cardinals were in the mix after losing Matt Adams for a few months and perhaps the rest of the season, a power-hitting first baseman, that's better than Mark Reynolds might be a good fit in St. Louis. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Bills DE Michael Buchanan ended last season on IR with a sports hernia. Says he feels 100-percent healthy now.

Buchanan was a seventh-round pick of the Patriots back in 2013. He has produced just two career sacks in his 18 games played. If healthy, he should produce big numbers playing alongside star defensive lineman Mario Williams and Jerry Hughes.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Ryan Braun left the team following Tuesday's game and is undergoing another cryotherapy procedure on his right thumb. Brewers are hopeful he will be back in the lineup Sunday.

The good news is that the Brewers had this pre-planned to ensure Braun does not have any setbacks. If you are a Braun owner, definitely kep your eye on the situation. He has cooled off over the past week hitting just .194/.242/.226 over his last seven games. The hope is that he'll be ready on Friday, but Counsell isn't counting on Braun until Sunday. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Josh Hamilton is expected to be out of the lineup again Wednesday due to a hamstring issue.

And so it goes with good ol' Josh Hamilton. He plays for six-straight games and is already out with a hamstring issue. No word on the extent of the injury, but this will make two days in a row he's missed because of it. Consider him day-to-day while Delino DeShields, Jr. likely fills in. Analysis: Howard Bender

Update: Red Sox recall LHP Robbie Ross Jr. from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Ross will be used out of the bullpen as the 26th man for Wednesday's doubleheader. He'll end up back down in the minors before the day is over. Analysis: Howard Bender

Tommy Milone will be recalled to start on Thursday.

With the doubleheader Wednesday, the Twins are in need of an extra starter this week, so they'll turn to the southpaw to face the Red Sox, a team that struggles against lefties to the tune of a .248 batting average and .290 wOBA. He's been pitching extremely well at Triple-A lately -- 0.76 ERA with a 47:3 K:BB over 38 1/3 innings in five starts -- and could be a nice sleeper in DFS play. Analysis: Howard Bender

Jets TE Jace Amaro tweaked his back on a pass route in Wednesday's practice.

No word on the severity of said tweak, but obviously that's not a good thing. Amaro was looking to step into a bigger role this year and the Jets would love to offer him up as a steady receiving option for whomever ends up as the team's quarterback, so keep an eye on this to make sure it's not too serious or will end up being a lingering issue. Analysis: Howard Bender
