Manny Machado is not in the Orioles starting lineup on Wednesday.
Machado was placed on the 15-day DL with a sprained knee ligament. As of now there is no timetable set for his return. The Orioles called up Cord Phelps from Triple-A Norfolk to provide some infield depth as the corresponding move. ANALYST: Jonathan Impemba
Jarrell Eddie will sign a 10-day contract with the Hawks on Thursday.
The undrafted free agent out of Virginia Tech, Jarrell Eddie won the D-League's Three-Point Shootout during the All-Star weekend, and will now be given the opportunity to log his first minute in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks. The team had one vacant roster spot, so no one is being sent to the Developmental League as a result of this signing. We'll have to see what the Hawks' have in mind for their new three-point threat. Clay Buchholz only threw 13 pitches in his spring debut Tuesday, but he was pleased with the results. Buchholz faced three batters in Boston's 2-1 win over Northeastern University, and he said that his offseason work on his delivery has already begun to pay dividends.
“It felt good, I felt good with everything,” Buchholz said in regards to his short outing. “I only threw 13 pitches, but I tried to throw each of my pitches, and the ball was moving like it’s supposed to, I guess, like I wanted it to.” Durability has been an issue for the 30-year-old pitcher, as he has never logged more than 173.2 innings during his eight-year career. Last season, Buchholz posted a 5.34 ERA over 170.1 innings, but is a top candidate for the opening day starter spot so long as he can make it through spring without incident. He's worth a draft pick in all fantasy formats. Analysis: Keith Tro
