Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Rob Gronkowski's chances of playing Week one are 50-50.
Gronk is an absolute fantasy force when he is on the field but his consistent injury history, most of which has been bad luck, and seemingly inconsistent time tables as to when he will return to action make him a large risk on draft day but one that could pay off immensely. Cecil Shorts might be ready to play against Jacksonville in Week 6.
Both Shorts and Nate Washington missed Thursday's game, making way for Jaelen Strong and Keith Mumphery. While strong caught two TDs, Mumphery was a non-factor. Strong earned himself more playing time in the coming weeks, possibly coming at Shorts' expense, though it could come at Washington's as coach Bill O'Brien said that Shorts had a better chance of playing against Jacksonville than Washington does.
