Cole Hamels allowed one run on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts over seven innings against the Mets on Saturday.
Hamels settled for a no-decision on Saturday, despite allowing only one run for the fifth consecutive start. He remains 6-6 trough 21 starts while sitting on a 2.37 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 144:43 K:BB rate over 144.1 innings. Although it would have been nice for Hamels to have landed on a contending team prior to the trade deadline, he will still be able to put up great numbers in Philadelphia even if his record doesn't show it. George Springer went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI in the Astros 6-2 loss to the Tigers on Friday.
Springer has now collected two hits in three straight games which has helped raise his average from .195 to .214 on the season. A concussion sidelined Springer in early May but he has played well since his return, hitting .282 with six runs, two home runs and four RBI. Fantasy owners will have to deal with the low batting average as Springer is once again on pace to rank among the league leaders in strikeouts but he’s already reached double-digit stole bases and could flirt with a 30/30 season given his potential.
