Cole Hamels allowed one run on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts over seven innings against the Mets on Saturday.
Hamels settled for a no-decision on Saturday, despite allowing only one run for the fifth consecutive start. He remains 6-6 trough 21 starts while sitting on a 2.37 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 144:43 K:BB rate over 144.1 innings. Although it would have been nice for Hamels to have landed on a contending team prior to the trade deadline, he will still be able to put up great numbers in Philadelphia even if his record doesn't show it. The 76ers have waived JaVale McGee.
McGee, oddly enough, came out and said he wanted to be a "mentor" to the young players on the Sixers after arriving at the trade deadline. Just a few weeks late, McGee will be packing his bags, hoping he picks up with a contender. The seven-footer reportedly will not have to give back any money in a buyout, and is owed the remainder of his $11.2 million contract, along with $12 million next year. Analysis: Spencer Silva
