The Marlins will reportedly make a "legit" attempt to lock up OF Giancarlo Stanton long-term, but they are not overly optimistic about their chances.
The Marlins are going to have to open the wallets real wide for this one, but it's probably a wasted effort unless Stanton has some major affinity for playing in Miami and he doesn't want to leave. Unfortunately though, there are other teams with bigger stacks of cash and plenty of other ballparks out there that can help pad his numbers and set him up for an even bigger payday down the road.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Indians recall OF Tyler Holt from Triple-A Columbus.
The Indians traded David Murphy to the Angels on July 28 which opened up a roster spot for Holt. The 26-year-old outfielder had a slash line of .286/.369/.348 with 20 stolen bases for Triple-A Columbus. Holt should provide fantasy owners with speed, but it's hard to know how valuable he is until the Indians announce how they will use Holt. Analysis: Phil Backert
Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) had an injection of platelet-rich plasma Monday. He'll be shut down for a few days.
Pedroia was rushed back from his previous hamstring injury and it appears the Red Sox will be extra careful with their star second baseman this time around. Pedroia missed nearly a month after being placed on the disabled list June 25 so it is safe to assume he will at least miss that much time again. Fantasy owners are looking at the end of August as a best case scenario for Pedroia to return which puts his fantasy value in huge jeopardy. That's a shame as Pedroia has put together a solid season with a slash line of .287/.348/.426 with nine homeruns, 34 RBIs and 35 runs scored. Analysis: Phil Backert
