The Cubs and Phillies have engaged in talks on a trade for star Philly pitcher Cole Hamels, but are not especially likely to complete a deal.
Although the Cubs have the depth in their farm system to pull off a trade for Hamels, it is unlikely that he will be moved before the off-season. The Phillies will have a lot more leverage if more teams are engaged in trade talks after the season, so expect him to remain in Philadelphia the rest of the way. ANALYST: Matthew Beck
Cecil Shorts might be ready to play against Jacksonville in Week 6.
Both Shorts and Nate Washington missed Thursday's game, making way for Jaelen Strong and Keith Mumphery. While strong caught two TDs, Mumphery was a non-factor. Strong earned himself more playing time in the coming weeks, possibly coming at Shorts' expense, though it could come at Washington's as coach Bill O'Brien said that Shorts had a better chance of playing against Jacksonville than Washington does.
