UPDATES & NEWS
Ian Desmond went 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, two runs scored and a walk against the Mets on Thursday.
Desmond is now slashing .247/.300/.423 with 18 home runs, 69 RBI and 12 stolen bases over 430 at-bats, with Thursday's home run being first since July 21. Although his batting average isn't going to win anyone over, his home run and RBI production is more than fantasy owners could have expected from Desmond this season as he remains a great option to deploy at shortstop with power at a premium this day and age. Update: Corey Dickerson was removed from Saturday's game with a left quad injury.
While the news regarding Dickerson's plantar fasciitis was positive, he was removed after he fouled a ball off his back leg and is now day-to-day with what the team is calling a quad injury. When his leg appeared to be swollen, manager Walt Weiss opted to play it safe and remove Dickerson who had gone 0-for-3 in Saturday's game against the Giants. Consider him day-to-day for right now and figure he'll be a game-time decision for Sunday. Analysis: Howard Bender
