49ers do not know the verdict of potential NFL discipline for DE Aldon Smith, but they're bracing themselves for a suspension in the range of 6-to-8 games.
As a repeat offender, Smith is certainly going to miss time in 2014 due to suspension, we just do't know how long he will be out. Despite the looking suspension, Smith should be drafted in all IDP leagues because when he is on the field, he is one of the most talented defensive ends in the game. Expect a verdict within the next couple weeks. ANALYST: Matthew Beck
Curt Casali went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI against Detroit on Tuesday.
That’s two nights in a row that Casali has double donged. He also homered on Saturday and now has six home runs in his last 20 at-bats. His ISO is now an absurd .480. He obviously won’t sustain anything close to that production, and the projection systems aren’t buying this at all as he has a projected ISO of .123 from here on out according to ZiPS. His ISO was around .130 in a little more than 300 PA at Triple-A, so the projection systems may be right. Analysis: Brett Talley
Evan Longoria went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against Detroit on Tuesday.
Longo is working on a six-game hitting streak with a couple of home runs thrown in during that stretch. He still has a shot to hit 20 home runs, which would be comparable to what he did last year, but where his production has really fallen off is in the run and RBI categories. It’s a bit strange that his counting numbers are down given that the Rays offense has been better than it was last year (according to wRC+). He may see 50 or so fewer plate appearances than he did last year, but that hardly explains 20 fewer runs and RBI each. Analysis: Brett Talley
Jose Bautista left Tuesday's game with what appeared to be a right hamstring injury.
Bautista was an unfortunate 0-for-4 against Adam Morgan and Philadelphia bullpen before leaving with the injury. It would certainly be unfortunate for the Jays if they were to lose Bautista for any amount of time as he'd represent a bigger loss in firepower than what they just gained in Troy Tulowitzki. Hopefully it's nothing, but Ezequiel Carrera, Chris Colabello or a minor leaguer would be the candidates for additional playing time. Analysis: Brett Talley
