Braves SS Andrelton Simmons on crutches. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said they are hoping he will avoid the disabled list, but his ankle swelled up after he stopped icing it Tuesday night.
The plan was to sit Simmons until after their off day on Thursday and play him on Friday but after seeing him on crutches today, that seems less likely. The thought was he just tweaked the left ankle in the field during Tuesday night's game but it looks like it could be more serious than originally thought. ANALYST: Drew Phelps
Kendrys Morales went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in the Royals 7-1 win over the Twins on Monday.
Morales is raking to start the season, hitting .358 with 12 runs, two home runs and nine RBI as the Royals everyday DH and cleanup hitter. 2014 was a lost year for Morales as he struggled to find a role with the Mariners and Twins but he showed capable of being a productive player over the two seasons prior where he hits a combined 45 home runs over the two years. Morales was one of the more promising offensive players in the league before a devastating ankle injury nearly ended his career in 2010 but if his hot start is any indication of things to come those who took a chance on Kendrys could be in for a solid season.
