Blake Griffin says his back injury is not serious.
After being advised by doctors, Griffin withdrew from Team USA training camp last week due to a small fracture in his back. Despite the injury, Griffin has been able to practice along side DeAndre Jordan this summer, so the injury should not be a concern moving forward for the Clippers star power forward. Titans head coach Mike Mularkey said the team is giving Marcus Mariota more chances to run the football.
One of the bigger surprises this fantasy season has been the lack of running by Mariota, considering he came from a read option offense in Oregon. However, the rookie quarterback has still been a solid fantasy option despite the lack of running, so this will give a slight boost to his value if he is able to churn out a few yards on the ground. It’s always a tough situation when quarterbacks run more as they open themselves up for injury, but the Titans must feel confident that Mariota will know how to protect himself when he decides to take off and run.
