Update: Andrew Cashner will throw on the side Tuesday, pitch 2-3 innings Friday for High-A Lake Elsinore, followed by two outings at Double-A, then hopefully be back with the Padres between August 22-24, according to manager Bud Black.
Cashner's progress has been slow and steady and obviously, given his injury history, the Padres are being extremely cautious. He'll graduate through the system here over the next two and a half weeks and may end up being a nice final-month starter for you down the stretch.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Zach Miller caught two passes on seven targets for 10 yards and a TD on Thursday night vs Green Bay.
Miller got the start in place of the injured Martellus Bennett on Thursday night. In all, he finished with two catches and a touchdown on seven targets, looking mediocre, however doing his best with the hand he was dealt. Anyone who started him in daily leagues could have expected better, however it is a bit spoiled to come away with much more than a TD as a definite backup. Consider him a wise play on Thursday night, and a keen start going forward at least until Bennett comes back healthy. Analysis: Dom Murtha
