Browns rookie QB Johnny Manziel took first snap with starters in team drills Monday.
Rein in the enthusiasm, people, rein it in. Of course he's getting time with the first team, but everyone knows that Brian Hoyer will open the season as the Browns starting quarterback. Forget this early-August hype. It doesn't mean anything. As the back-up and given Hoyer's knee issue last year, of course Manziel needs to familiarize himself with the first team. Cleveland may be a bad team, but they're not stupid. Don't blow this up into more than it should be. You'll regret it in your draft when you take Manziel far higher than he should be taken.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Matt Andriese gave up four runs over 3 1/3 innings as the Rays lost to the Yankees 5-3 on Sunday.
The Yanks hit Andriese up pretty good on Sunday, but it wasn’t like they absolutely shelled him. Four runs on eight hits over 3 1/3 innings isn’t pretty, but it also isn’t catastrophic. In any case, manager Kevin Cash decided to pull the 25-year-old right-hander after only 63 pitches, leaving the rest of the game up to the bullpen. He now appears to have a spot in this Ray’s rotation, so he needs to work on stretching himself out and keeping the ball on the ground, rather than getting hit hard or getting into deep counts. As of now, he’s not worth a fantasy roster spot, so look for starting pitching help somewhere else on the waiver wire. Analysis: Dom Murtha
