Fantasy Player Updates & News  2016 MLB Draft Guide Is Here!

Odell Beckham (hamstring) will not play in Sunday's preseason Hall of Fame Game.

Beckham was the Giants first round pick in this years draft out of LSU. Beckham is listed third on the Giants depth chart behind Victor Cruz and Ruben Randall. ANALYST: Jonathan Impemba

Nikola Jokic’s work ethic was the focus of head coach Mike Malone’s praise recently. Jokic lost 30 pounds by the time training camp had started last year. Malone also gave Jokic credit for taking advantage of the opportunities he was given due to injuries to teammates.

Jokic was drafted in the 2nd round in 2014 by the Nuggets but has made his NBA debut this year and he has performed well, averaging 9.5 points and 5.9 rebounds over 20.0 minutes per game. Jokic has stepped up his game as the Nuggets entered the All-Star break, averaging 12.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.4 steals over the last 10 games. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Yankees starter Masahiro Tanaka reported no issues with his elbow after throwing a bullpen session today.

Tanaka has dealt with some elbow issues over the past two seasons and the fear is that he will eventually require Tommy John surgery however the Yankees have gone with the rest strategy to heal Tanaka's elbow. Tanaka finished 2015 going 12-7 with a 3.51 ERA over 24 games while striking out 139 over 154 innings. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Broncos are attempting to re sign defensive tackle Malik Jackson however no deal is imminent.

Jackson is just one of several Denver defenders set to hit the open market. The Broncos will most likely try to re-sign as many of their free agents as they can before free agency begins, and this isn't exactly a good start. While Von Miller isn't going anywhere, Jackson is definitely not a guarantee to remain in Denver as the Broncos have several players they need to re-sign and there will definitely be plenty of interest in the 26-year-old defensive lineman. Analysis: Ari Gilberg

Rockies pitcher Tyler Chatwood is hopeful to make the starting rotation this spring as he returns from his second Tommy John surgery.

Chatwood is attempting to return from his second Tommy John surgery and in a best-case scenario will work in the back-end of the Rockies starting rotation. With a career record of 20-22 and a 4.34 ERA, Chatwood is a mediocre starting pitcher who offers little-to-no fantasy appeal. He isn't worth drafting as he may not even win a starting job. Analysis: Ari Gilberg

Broncos have not talked about an extension with Von Miller making it likely he will receive the franchise tag.

This isn't exactly news as it's been long speculated the Broncos would place the franchise tag on Miller. Broncos fans shouldn't be too worried as the franchise tag will act as a "band aid" and make Miller one of the highest-paid defenders next season before eventually signing a long-term deal in the range of $100 million. Miller is the Broncos top defender and he will most likely remain in Denver for a long time. Analysis: Ari Gilberg

Masahiro Tanaka got through another 20-pitch session on Sunday.

The 27-year-old pitcher underwent underwent arthroscopic surgery in late November and remains questionable for Opening Day. Once presumed to be the ace of the Yankees rotation, Tanaka is now just trying to make it through an entire season without getting injured. If he can do that, he'll be solid pitcher for both the Yankees and your fantasy team. While he's extremely talented, due to his injury-plagued history you must still draft with caution. Analysis: Ari Gilberg

Al Horford does not wanted to be traded. He said he is very happy in Atlanta.

Horford, along with point guard Jeff Teague, has been the subject of frequent trade rumors this season. Horford has been in Atlanta since being drafted third overall in 2007, and expressed his love for the city. While the Hawks are 30-24 and in the midst of the playoff race, they still seem ready to part ways the face of their franchise. Regardless if he gets traded or not, Horford will remain a solid fantasy contributor. Analysis: Ari Gilberg

Broncos are negotiating with Malik Jackson in hopes of locking him up before he hits free agency.

Jackson is just one of several Broncos defenders who are set to hit free agency. Denver's defense was ranked No. 1, and helped carry them to a Super Bowl after shutting down Cam Newton and Carolina's prolific offense. As a result, it's not surprising John Elway and management would attempt to retain as many of their free agent defenders as possible. Expect the Broncos to place the franchise tag on Von Miller, and re-sign as many of their other free agent defenders prior to the start of free agency. Analysis: Ari Gilberg

Jared Allen is not expected back with the Panthers next season.

Whether or not he retires, it appears that Jared Allen's days in Carolina are over. The Panthers appear ready to move on from Allen after trading for the 33-year-old defensive end in the beginning of the season. Allen is set to earn $8.5 million next season, and that is money better used to help retain star cornerback Josh Norman, who is set to become a free agent this offseason.  Analysis: Ari Gilberg

Dodgers prospect Frankie Montas (ribs) is expected to miss two to four months.

Rough start to the year for the Dodgers' No. 4 ranked prospect. While Montas went 0-2 with a 4.80 ERA last season, he still showed some promise and development. Despite the setback, it's believed that Montas will either move into the back-end of the starting rotation, or be featured as one of the team's top relief pitchers, upon returning from his injury. Due to his young age, 22, and potential, Montas is worth keeping an eye on, as he could eventually be a solid waiver wire pickup once the season begins.  Analysis: Ari Gilberg

Yadier Molina had his cast removed from his surgically repaired thumb.

Cardinals GM John Mozeliak said more will be known within the next 2-3 weeks, but Molina's opening day status seems to be questionable at best. Coming back from surgery, and two straight seasons in which his offensive numbers have declined, it would be foolish to expect a sudden resurgence from the 33-year-old catcher. While Molina still has some fantasy value - especially since the catching position is one of the most bare in fantasy baseball - in 10-team leagues, he isn't worth taking prior to round 20. It seems that Father Time may finally be catching up to one of the most consistent catchers to ever play the game. Analysis: Ari Gilberg

J.J. Hickson is expected to be traded before the trade deadline.

This shouldn't come as a surprise seeing as how Hickson has completely fallen out of the rotation in Denver – he's played a total of 13 minutes since January 1. Despite being a poor free throw shooter, Hickson still has some value seeing as how he's only 27 years old and is just three years removed from his career-best season in Portland in which he averaged a double-double. While a fresh start will definitely be beneficial for Hickson, he still shouldn't be considered in any fantasy formats unless he starts to see upwards of 20-25 minutes per game again. Analysis: Ari Gilberg

Timberwolves are talking to an unnamed team about an Andre Miller trade.

Miller is averaging just 3.4 points and 2.2 assists per game this season, and has fallen towards the back-end of the rotation. The Timberwolves may be trying to move the 39-year-old point guard in order to get rookie Tyus Jones some increased playing time. Even if Miller does get traded, it's unlikely he'll be anything more than a reserve guard coming off the bench. Miller hasn't been fantasy relevant for a few years now, and that is unlikely to change regardless of whether or not he is traded. Analysis: Ari Gilberg
