Fantasy Player Updates & News  Better Than a Freeroll, Every Position Pays!

Braves OF Jason Heyward said he is not playing Friday. The soonest he would be back would be Saturday, if his back keeps improving.

What was originally supposed to be minor back soreness that may have kept Heyward out a game or two has not exceeded to the point where even returning on Saturday seems very optimistic for the Braves right fielder.ANALYST: Michael Pichan

Wilin Rosario was recalled from Triple-A and is in the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

Rosario will act as the 26th man on the roster for the Rockies doubleheader today and is starting at first and batting fourth in the first game. He has hit LHP pretty well this season but really only for average as he's hit just one homer off of them. With September call ups being made today as well there is a solid chance he remains up with the club as rosters expand. Analysis: Matt Selz

Joe Thomas is not practicing Tuesday.

It looks like Cleveland decided to give the big fella a day of rest as the season draws ever nearer to a start. Thomas has been an anchor for the Browns offensive line since being drafted in the top of the first round and that should not change anytime soon. Analysis: Matt Selz

Brian Hartline is not practicing Tuesday.

Hartline is having a nice preseason so the Browns aren't cutting him, and with no injury reported, it seems like this could just be a maintenance day for the veteran. There doesn't appear to be anything with which to be concerned, but with his absence, consider him day-to-day. Analysis: Howard Bender

Branden Albert is expected to be ready Week 1.

There was a report that surfaced saying that Albert wouldn't be ready until the third week of the regular season, but the Dolphins are refuting it. They believe his knee will be fully healed by Week 1 but they left the door open by adding, "Week 2 at the latest." Either way, short-term IR will not be necessary here. Analysis: Howard Bender

Giants head coach Tom Coughlin says Jon Beason is making progress with his knee.

Beason continues to be week-to-week while he recovers from a sprained knee. He did not play in this past week's preseason game and he seems unlikely for this week's as well. This isn't something that will require even short-term IR, so expect him back within the first couple of weeks of the regular season. Analysis: Howard Bender

Jets placed TE Jace Amaro on injured reserve.

Amaro was diagnosed with a torn labrum in his shoulder and will have season-ending surgery to correct the problem. Jeff Cumberland gets a slight bump in the tight end rankings, though he is still goign to struggle to post points. We'll see Amaro next season. Analysis: Howard Bender

James Dockery was released by the Raiders on Tuesday.

Dockery was looking for a reserve spot on the roster but just wasn't cutting it in the secondary. Nor was he doing a particularly good job on special teams as well. He'll try to land a gig elsewhere but it may be a little late for him in the preseason. Analysis: Howard Bender

DeSean Jackson (shoulder) confirmed Tuesday that he will be ready for Week 1.

Jackson has been held out with the shoulder issue for a couple of weeks now, but both he and the team are confident in his return for the start of the regular season. He's slipping down draft boards somewhat, so if you can snag him at a bargain price, he should fare better with Kirk Cousins under center than with Robert Griffin. Analysis: Howard Bender

Chris Johnson (hamstring) will practice Tuesday and may play in Thursday's preseason game.

Johnson has been day-to-day with the hamstring issue and the Cardinals have been making sure that he doesn't get back out there until he is completely healthy. He'll be re-evaluated daily and a decision on his playing time Thursday will come just before game time. Analysis: Howard Bender

Jets head coach Todd Bowles says Willie Colon has officially been named starting right guard.

Not really a surprise here, though Colon does have his shortcomings when it comes to pass blocking. He will hold the job for now though as he is decent at opening holes for the run. Analysis: Howard Bender

Carlos Gonzalez is not in the Rockies starting lineup for Game 1 of Tuesday's double header.

Gonzalez will take a seat against lefty Patrick Corbin for Game 1, but the Rockies will unleash him in the later game against Rubby De La Rosa. Kyle Parker and Brandon Barnes are handling the corners in the outfield for the day game. Analysis: Howard Bender

The Orioles have selected the contract of RHP Steve Johnson and recalled RHP Oliver Drake from Triple-A Norfolk.

The Orioles will bulk up the bullpen here with rosters expanding, but fantasy owners aren't going to have to be concerned with either Johnson or Drake. Neither one will contribute enough to leave even a remote impact on fantasy standings. Analysis: Howard Bender
