49ers DE Aldon Smith will meet with the commissioner next week and could be facing a "significant" suspension.
Between the drinking and driving and the drug and gun possession charges, the NFL needs to step up their disciplinary work and it starts right here. No better way to set an example than to suspend a high-profile player like Smith for an extended period of time. With a suspension to Ray Rice, albeit a small one, and pending suspensions to Smith and Josh Gordon, hopefully a message will be sent to the players. If not, then "indefinite bans" should be instituted.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Sean Marshall (shoulder) has resumed throwing from flat ground.
Marshall was shut down at the beginning of spring training with shoulder soreness, but has resumed throwing. Last June, Marshall underwent season ending shoulder surgery after making just 15 appearances in 2014. The only thing scarier than last season's 7.71 ERA is the fact that he has had some sort of shoulder injury in each of the last three seasons. Leave this guy off your draft board. Nathan Eovaldi has been working on improving his splitter during spring training.
Eovaldi is more of a thrower than a pitcher right now, but the Yankees are hoping he can develop into a mainstay in their rotation. Even though he hasn't had a winning season in his four year career, his velocity is hope for optimism. Eovaldi got knocked around a lot last year, but he doesn't walk many batters, something else the Yankees are excited about. Eovaldi is going late in drafts and there is some solid value to be had if he can take the next step forward. Analysis: Colby Conway
