Yu Darvish won after allowing nine hits and one walk with eight strikeouts in seven innings against the Yankees Monday.

Darvish improved to 10-6 with a 2.90 ERA over 20 starts on the season. His 167 strikeouts over 133.1 innings ranks third in the American League behind only Rays David Price (183) and Mariners Felix Hernandez (173), but both have pitched at least 55 more innings than him. Darvish's second start of the week will come on Sunday against the Indians.ANALYST: Michael Pichan

NaVorro Bowman assures he’s ready to return from his ACL injury.

Bowman looked fantastic in the Niners second preseason game against the Cowboys. He played just one series, but racked up all three tackles, flying all over the field and displaying his talent and instincts. Bowman will be fine going forward and the anchor for the 49ers D.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Raiders RB Latavius Murray garners praise from OC Bill Musgrave.

Murray has a ton of upside this year as he showed big play ability in 2014. The former UCF Golden Knight averaged 5.2 YPC on 82 rushes last season, and is currently sitting as RB2. With his talent he could finish the year as an RB1.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Phillies placed Elvis Araujo (strained groin) on the 15-day disabled list. Recall Nefi Ogando.

Araujo has appeared in 40 games for the Phillies, posting a 3.37 ERA and and 1.38 WHIP. There's no timetable yet for his return, but the youngster has been solid out of the bullpen.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Chris Johnson (hamstring) is practicing Friday.

David Johnson looked good in the Cardinals last preseason game so Chris Johnson might open the season as the number three back. Bruce Arians still doesn't seem happy with his running back corps though, so Johnson could move up the depth chart with a nice performance. He's worth no more than a late round pick in a re-draft league. Analysis: Brian Rothstein

DeAngelo Hall (toe) will play vs. the Ravens.

Hall will see his first action of the preseason in the Redskins' third preseason contest against the Ravens. He'll play corner in sub packages.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Nationals place Denard Span on the 15-day disabled list and recall Matt den Dekker.

Span will have season ending surgery on his hip. The center fielder has dealt with a myriad of injuries this year that started after having cores muscle surgery last offseason. Michael Taylor will continue to play center field for the remainder of the year. Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Justin Morneau (neck) will start a rehab assignment at Double-A New Britain on Friday.

Morneau has been sidelined since May 13th with a concussion and neck sprain. The former MVP's career has been derailed by concussion problems, but he's trying to regain his form. It's a sad story, but hopefully one that will end on a happy note. There's no timetable for his return. Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Redskins LB Ryan Kerrigan won't play Saturday.

There's no point for Kerrigan to play in a meaningless preseason game coming off of an offseason knee scope. The star linebacker will be ready to rock for Week 1. Analysis: Brian Rothstein

A back injury has Rangers third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff leaning toward retirement

Kouzmanoff hasn't appeared in the majors this season and hasn't been relevant since 2010. He had a decent career, mostly with the Padres, but it appears he's reached the end of the road. Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Denver Broncos waive WR Solomon Patton, sign rookie TE Dan Light.

The Broncos are flush with receivers - Andre Caldwell, Cody Latimer, Emmanual Sanders and Demaryius Thomas to name a few - so there simply wasn't a need for the 5'9", 180 lbs wideout. The Broncos already boast a strong group at tight end (Owen Daniels, Virgil Green, James Casey) so Light's fantasy light... it's not even lit.  Analysis: Ray Flowers

Craig Kimbrel claimed on waivers by unknown team. Club official says team has no intention of moving him.

At one point it was thought that the Padres might blow their team up, but they've obviously chosen not to do it. At this point it sounds like he will be pulled back and remain with the Padres, the team he has gone 36-for-38 in save chances for this season.  Analysis: Ray Flowers
