Nationals still haven't announced a timetable for third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, who is out with a hamstring injury.
A few days ago a nebulous 6-8 week tag was placed on Zimmerman, but apparently the Nats can't commit to that. It's safe to say he'll be out for most of the regular season, and he's droppable in re-draft leagues where decent options exist on the wire. Anthony Rendon is a third baseman by trade, so he'll cover the hot corner until Zimm is able to return. ANALYST:
Ravens announce extension for cornerback Jimmy Smith.
The deal is said to give him an average of just under $10 million per year. Smith was heading into the final year of his rookie contract – a reported $6.9 million option that the team picked up before last season. Considering his level of play and contributions on defense, it would have been quite the bargain but probably would have left a bad taste in the cornerback's mouth. He should be all smiles though heading into camp now with a new deal. Analysis: Howard Bender
Mirza Teletovic is listed as probable for Wednesday.
Teletovic was diagnosed with bilateral pulmonary embolus, meaning he had blood clots in his lungs. He hasn't played since January 22nd, but he looks like he will be on the court for Wednesday's game. It would be surprising to see him play a full workload of minutes seeing as its been three months since he's last played. Regardless, his return would be a nice emotional boost to his team.
