Jake Peavy suffered the loss in his first start with the Giants as he allowed four runs (three earned) with two walks and five strikeouts over six innings against the Dodgers Sunday.
At least for one start, fantasy owners should cut Peavy some slack seeing as he pitched a day after being traded from Boston to San Fran. The odds are in the new Giants pitcher's favor that he should improve, if for anything because he will be fortunate enough to face the Mets on Saturday.ANALYST: Michael Pichan
Stephen Piscotty went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Tuesday’s 6-4 loss to the Cubs.
Things definitely looked promising for the Cardinals when Piscotty gave the team an early 2-0 lead with with one swing of the bat in the top of the first inning. However, the offense largely dried up for the Cardinals after that and their season is now done. Piscotty was simply outstanding in this NLDS, going 6-for-16 with three homers, a double, six RBI and five runs scored. The sweet-swinging rookie has quickly made a name for himself in St. Louis and around the league. Analysis: Nate Miller
Ravens cut CB Rashaan Melvin on Tuesday.
Melvin started some games late last year for Baltimore, including some playoff games. But after being injured in the preseason and getting benched at halftime of Week 3, he just lost favor with the coaching staff. This isn't your run-of-the-mill no name being cut, so the Ravens are shaking things up a bit. Analysis: Brett Talley
