Daisuke Matsuzaka will not require surgery on his injured right elbow. He will not pick up a ball to throw for 7-10 days while he rests.
So while no surgery is required, Dice-K has been completely shut down for a week and form there, the doctors will evaluate him. He's probably going to need to be brought along slowly, so he could probably need another two weeks beyond that. Bottom line, not that you should have been using him anyway, don't expect him to come back anytime soon.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Kendrys Morales went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in the Royals 7-1 win over the Twins on Monday.
Morales is raking to start the season, hitting .358 with 12 runs, two home runs and nine RBI as the Royals everyday DH and cleanup hitter. 2014 was a lost year for Morales as he struggled to find a role with the Mariners and Twins but he showed capable of being a productive player over the two seasons prior where he hits a combined 45 home runs over the two years. Morales was one of the more promising offensive players in the league before a devastating ankle injury nearly ended his career in 2010 but if his hot start is any indication of things to come those who took a chance on Kendrys could be in for a solid season.
