FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

Byron Scott says he has reached a deal to coach the Lakers.

Welcome home, Byron. We hope you enjoy your stay here. Try not to let Jerry break your spirit as the Lakers are desperate for someone else to make their mark.ANALYST: Howard Bender

Al-Farouq Aminu came off the bench and scored 12 points (4-4 FGA, 2-2 FTA) with five rebounds, two assists, four steals and two blocks against the Nets on Saturday.

Al-Farouq Aminu did a little of everything in Saturday's loss to the Nets. Unfortunately for him, Chandler Parsons (ankle) is slated to return Monday, which subsequently removes Aminu from any fantasy conversation. It was a good run while it lasted.  Analysis: Keith Tro

Monta Ellis scored 12 points (4-16 FGA, 3-3 FTA) with one rebound, five assists and three steals during the Mavericks' 104-94 loss to the Nets on Saturday.

Shooting just 25% from the field, it was certainly not one of Monta Ellis' most memorable performances. That said, he is averaging 17.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists over his last five games, which is fairly standard for Ellis. He remains a solid option moving forward.  Analysis: Keith Tro

Dirk Nowitzki scored 20 points (8-14 FGA, 2-3 FTA) while going 2-for-5 from three-point range with six rebounds and two assists during the Mavericks' 104-94 loss on Saturday.

Despite losing the Nets, Nowitzki was able to turn things around after Wednesday's dreadful four-point performance. The perennial All Star shot 57% from the field and 40% from behind the arc. Dirk and the Mavs are set to host the Pelicans on Tuesday. Of course, Nowitzki should always been in your starting rotation.  Analysis: Keith Tro

Thaddeus Young came off the bench to score 16 points (7-12 FGA, 1-2 FTA) with eight rebounds, one assists and a block against the Mavericks on Saturday.

Thaddeus Young put together a solid night, and is averaging 14.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists on the season. That said, Young is currently seeing nearly 10 less minutes per game since being traded from Minnesota to Brooklyn. He logged 29 minutes on Saturday, which explains why he was able to produce at his standard level. It will be interesting to see what happens on Tuesday verse the Warriors.  Analysis: Keith Tro

Deron Williams scored 25 points (9-14 FGA, 3-4 FTA) while going 4-for-6 from three-point range with six rebounds, two assists and one steal during the Nets' 104-94 win over the Mavericks on Saturday.

Aside from a 29-point performance that came back on Nov. 7th, Williams' 25 points (on 64% shooting) leads the way on his 2014-15 campaign. D-Will has strung together a week's worth of solid performances, and should be started in all formats.  Analysis: Keith Tro

Mason Plumlee scored 14 pints (5-8 FGA, 4-9 FTA) with 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal and three blocks against the Mavericks on Saturday.

Mason Plumlee, 24, notched is second double-double of the month in Saturday's win against the Mavericks. He logged 32 minutes tonight, which is significantly more than his 22-minute average. If Plumlee can continue to generate the extra playing time, his overall production is likely to see a boost as a result. For now, just wait and see on him.  Analysis: Keith Tro

Joe Johnson scored 15 points (6-13 FGA, 3-7 3PT) with eight rebounds and three assists during the Nets' 104-94 win over the Mavericks on Saturday.

A fairly standard night for Joe Johnson with the exception of a few additional rebounds. He connected on 20 three-pointers, on 48 tries, in the month of February, which equates to 42%. Johnson, who is averaging 37% from deep on the season, will face-off against Golden State on Tuesday.  Analysis: Keith Tro

Gorgui Dieng came off the bench and scored 13 points (4-6 FGA, 5-6 FTA) with nine rebounds and two steals during the Timberwolves' 101-97 loss to the Grizzlies on Saturday.

Gorgui Dieng put together a solid performance, collecting 13 points (on 66% shooting) and nine rebounds in 38 minutes. The increased workload came as a result of Nikola Pekovic being pulled early with ankle soreness. Dieng is averaging 9.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists on the season, but you can expect to see a bump in those numbers if Pekovic is sidelined for any length of time. Averaging nearly a double-double on a nightly basis, Dieng is a solid fantasy option as is.  Analysis: Keith Tro

Gary Neal came off the bench to score 16 points (4-8 FGA, 5-5 FTA) with two assists against the Grizzlies on Saturday.

The 16 points off the bench is nice, but failing to record a single rebound, block or steal is not so nice. Gary Neal can be avoided in all formats.  Analysis: Keith Tro

Ricky Rubio scored 13 points (3-12 FGA, 6-8 FTA) with seven rebounds, 10 assists and four steals during the Timberwolves' loss to the Grizzlies on Saturday

Ricky Rubio collected a double-double for the second straight night, and has done so in three of his last five games. The shooting percentage is never going to be there for Rubio, but the fact that he is able to contribute so consistently in many other departments makes him a top-tier fantasy option at the guard spot - so long as he is able to stay on the court.  Analysis: Keith Tro

Andrew Wiggins scored 25 points (10-22 FGA, 5-6 FTA) with four rebounds, two assists and one steal during the Timberwolves' 101-97 loss to the Grizzlies on Saturday.

Rookie Andrew Wiggins has been taking care of business of late, averaging 21.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals in his last five games. Wiggins has done quite well for fantasy owners, and should be in the starting lineup on a nightly basis.  Analysis: Keith Tro

Mike Conley scored 17 points (5-13 FGA, 5-5 FTA) with two rebounds, four assists and two steals during the Grizzlies' win over the Timberwolves on Saturday.

Mike Conley followed up a four-point performance with a 17 point game in Saturday's victory over the Timberwolves. Conley should be started in all formats, as he is averaging 16.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.2 steals this season.  Analysis: Keith Tro

Sources say Amar'e Stoudemire wouldn't mind returning to Phoenix after he becomes a free agent in July.

Stoudemire spent his first eight years in the league and will always have a soft spot for the first city for which he played. Whether the Suns will take him back is the real question. Analysis: Howard Bender

Marc Gasol scored 27 points (11-14 FGA, 5-9 FTA) with 11 rebounds, four assists and two blocks during the Grizzlies' 101-97 win over the Timberwolves on Saturday.

Marc Gasol bounced back nicely after recording 11 points (on 41.7% shooting) and eight rebounds in Friday's loss to the Clippers. Gasol will attempt to carry-over his 78.6% shooting night onto the Jazz, Tuesday night.  Analysis: Keith Tro

Rajon Rondo is still open to the idea re-signing with the Mavericks.

Rondo was asked by the media whether or not his thoughts had changed about re-signing with the Mavs after the season. The veteran point guard had a public spat with Head Coach Rick Carlisle last week, allegedly over Rondo's control over play calling. It's tough to know whether or not Rondo is posturing or if the issue between the coach and player is resolved.  Analysis: Spencer Silva
