Craig Kimbrel is now tied with Cardinals closer Trevor Rosenthal for the MLB lead in saves as he converted his 31st save by striking out the side to secure the 5-3 win over the Padres.
Kimbrel continues to be the best closer in baseball and despite already matching his career high with four blown saves his strike out rate is up from last year with a ridiculous 71 strikeouts over 41.2 innings. Kimbrel looks primed to reach the 40 save plateau for the fourth straight season but will have to go on quite a run to reach the career high of 50 saves he set last season. ANALYST: Jonathan Impemba
The Indians recalled Danny Salazar from Triple-A Columbus Saturday.
The expected move was announced Thursday after the Tribe felt they needed to push Carlos Carrasco (head/jaw) back to Monday. Salazar was dominant in his one Triple-A start, and as Fantasy Alarm's Brad Costilo noted earlier in the week, Salazar was very solid in his final 12 starts [of 2014], limiting opposing hitters to a .255 average/.668 OPS while striking out 1/4 of the batters he faced.
