Efrén Navarro smacked his first career major league home run Saturday against the Tigers, a two-run shot, to go with a walk in four plate appearances.

With Josh Hamilton now nursing an injury, Navarro is getting a nice opportunity to get some extra playing time and he's trying to make the most of it and prove his worth to the Angels. He's hitting .313 on the year through 67 at-bats but could stand to show a little more consistency at the plate from game to game. That may come with experience, but unless he puts it together quickly, he could be seeing moire bench time when Hamilton comes back and J.B. Shuck is still up with the big club.
