Justin Verlander went seven innings in a losing effort to the Angles on Saturday, giving up three runs, six hits, a home run, walking three and striking out four.

While Verlander has now thrown back-to-back quality starts, the overall results have been fairly mediocre. On top of another three runs allowed, giving him 15 in his last four starts (26 innings), he's also sporting a just a 9:6 K:BB over these last two outings. The numbers just aren't there anymore. Sure he can have a good outing every so often and sure, maybe he'll throw you a quality start every now and then, but the days of relying on Verlander are long gone. He's a little better than your average streamer, but not by much.
