Cleveland Browns QB Brian Hoyer (knee) is expected to start the preseason opener, barring any setbacks, according to head coach Mike Pettine.
Hoyer was expected to be the starting QB initially for the Browns, and it appears that nothing has changed thus far. While there is still plenty that can change until week one of the preseason, Hoyer will likely stay the starting QB in the first game of the preseason, and likely the regular season as well. Joffrey Lauvergne practiced in full Thursday.
Lauvergne has missed the last 12 games due to a back injury but was back practicing in full on Thursday. It's a great sign for the second year pro who played well when he was healthy. He started the three games he played so we will wait and see if that's what Denver has in store for him when he returns to the lineup. Analysis: James Grande
Johnny Manziel was demoted because he lied about were he was.
When video surfaced of Manziel out partying, you just knew that head coach Mike Pettine had enough of this far-too scrutinized situation. Manziel has been a veritable nightmare for the coaches and continues to show a complete lack of maturity. Josh McCown will get the start in Week 12 and, barring injury, is likely the full-time starter moving forward. Analysis: Howard Bender
