Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett is out of the Brewers starting Thursday with right quadriceps tightness.

The quad has been bothering Gennett for a little while now and while he's tried to play through it, there are just some days where it's too much for him. Rickie Weeks will handle the work at the keystone Thursday.ANALYST: Howard Bender

Orioles recalled Jorge Rondon from Triple-A Norfolk.

Rondon has allowed 11 earned runs in 8 1/3 major league innings this year, although his Triple-A numbers are much more impressive. He'll work out of middle relief.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Orioles recalled OF Junior Lake from Triple-A Norfolk.

Lake was acquired from the Cubs in the Tommy Hunter deal. He's a free-swinging outfielder with zero plate discipline. He's never shown the ability to produce on a consistent basis and this time won't be any different. Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Orioles placed RHP Miguel Gonzalez on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis.

Gonzalez was DLed to make roster space for Jorge Rondon. Gonzalez has gone a disappointing 9-11 with 4.85 ERA and 1.38 WHIP. His season is likely over.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Dylan Axelrod cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Louisville.

Axelrod will provide minor league depth for the Reds. At this point that's about all his career is going to amount to. Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Manny Parra was activated from the 15-day disabled list.

Parras has had a myriad of injuries this year which explains why he's only pitched in 25 innings. An effective lefty specialist, Parra owns a 3.24 ERA and 1.12 WHIP.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Rockies designated Matt McBride for assignment.

McBride will certainly find work elsewhere after batting .328/.380/.549 in 308 minor league at-bats.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Athletics recalled LHP Sean Nolin from Triple-A Nashville.

Nolin hasn't appeared in a big league game this year, but has posted a solid 2.66 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 47 1/3 minor league innings. He'll make his Oakland debut when he gets into a game. Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Falcons have released QB T.J. Yates.

Remember when Yates started a playoff game for the Texans? Yeah, that was a long time ago. He won't be starting any playoff games as an unsigned free agent though. He'll probably remain that way. Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Nationals have recalled P Tanner Roark from Double-A Harrisburg.

As expected, Roark will start in place of Stephen Strasburg on Friday night. He has a 4.54 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 79 1/3 innings. You can do better for your daily lineups.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Adeiny Hechavarria was scratched on Friday. Miguel Rojas will start at SS.

Hechavarria was scratched due to an ailing hamstring. He strained the hammy in Wednesday's game and had to depart early. He tried to give it a go, but wasn't quite ready.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Daniel Murphy received a platelet-rich plasma therapy injection Thursday for left quadriceps. He is unavailable on Friday.

Murphy strained his left quad in Wednesday's game. The Mets don't seem too concerned about his injury and are considering him day-to-day. Juan Uribe will play second base and bat sixth. Analysis: Brian Rothstein

George Springer has returned to the Astros starting lineup on Friday.

Springer returns to action from a fractured wrist. The young slugger will resume his spot atop the Astros lineup. His OBP will help the Houston offense generate more runs. Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Falcons have released QB Rex Grossman.

Raise your hand if you knew Grossman was still in the league. Ok, now put your hand down and stop lying. Grossman hasn't played in a game since 2011.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Steven Souza (hand) said the team will reevaluate him on Monday.

Souza has been sidelined since August first with a fractured hand. The young outfielder has shown flashes of power and speed and projects to be a 20-20 player in the future, but his average and OBP leave something to be desired.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein
