A.J. Burnett threw eight shutout innings against the Giants on Wednesday. He allowed four hits and four walks with six strikeouts.
This was a great bounce back game for Burnett who put his last start ( 5 IP, 6 ER) behind him and threw his eighth quality start in his last nine outings. His command was surprisingly spotty at times though, as he threw a season-high 131 pitches (76 strikes) and had the four walks, but managed to work his way out of a couple of jams to maintain the shutout performance thanks to 11 ground ball outs. While his performance recently has been outstanding, remember the early-season Burnett and understand that he is very likely to be traded and could end up back int he AL.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Tom Brady completed 23-of-42 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns in the Patriots 30-24 OT loss to the Broncos on Sunday.
Brady turned in one of his better games of the season and Sunday and while he's certainly had better numbers in previous games it is hard to ignore the lack of weapons on the offensive side of the ball that he had at his disposal with injuries to Dion Lewis, Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola over the last three weeks. Brady tossed three more touchdown passes on Sunday night, connecting with Rob Gronkowski, Scott Chandler and Brandon Bolden for the scores. Late in the fourth quarter the Patriots passing attack suffered another tremendous blow as Rob Gronkowski was carted off with a knee injury which at the time appeared to be severe and yet Brady still managed to drive the Patriots down the field for a game tying field goal try to send the contest into OT. If Gronk is forced to miss any extended amount of time the fantasy impact for Brady will take another big blow as the available offensive weapons will be reduced to the very bottom of the depth chart.
