Patriots coach Bill Belichick confirmed that Rob Gronkowski has been cleared by doctors and is not being placed on active/PUP list.
Gronkowski has been a walking injury the last couple of seasons, but has managed to be cleared for contact for the start of training camp. When healthy, Gronkowski gives Jimmy Graham a run for his money for the top tight end in all of football and if able to stay on the field in 2014 makes for a great bounce back candidate in this year's drafts, despite still carrying a pretty hefty price tag. Aldon Smith said he is "hungry" to bounce back in 2015.
While that's all well and good, the bottom line is that Smith needs to stay focused on the field and out of trouble off it. His suspension really hurt the 49ers defense and with a new regime taking over, he needs to really prove that he's more than just a problem child. He can be one of the best in the game if he's focused, so if he's really that hungry, the 49ers will let him eat. Analysis: Howard Bender
