Jean Segura extended his current hit streak to five games after going 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored in the 5-2 win over the Reds Monday.
While it's true Segura has five-game hitting streak, Monday was Segura's first multi-hit game since July 7th. It's unknown whether or not Segura will play everyday following the heartbreaking death of his young son over the All-Star break. Segura's been one of fantasy's biggest disappointments, slashing .236/.269/.328 with four home runs and 15 steals. He's been about 40-percent below league-average on offense.ANALYST:
Daniel Nava is planning to only hit from the left side during this spring.
Not that cutting back on the switch-hitting is going to affect his standing with the team at all. The problem is that Nava is seen as nothing more than a fourth outfielder type guy an the Red Sox are just too stacked right now for him to warrant much consideration. His best bet is to land with a different team and try from there. The Red Sox depth chart is going to be extremely difficult even for him to climb. Analysis: Howard Bender
Joe Kelly will pitch the Grapefruit League opener Thursday.
Kelly is currently penciled in as the Red Sox' No. 4 starter and will continue to throw with that game plan in place. He threw 96.1 innings between his time with the Cardinals and the Sox and while his command could have been a little stronger, he maintained passable ratios and a strong groundball rate. He's a tough one to trust but could be an interesting waiver option in deep mixed leagues. Analysis: Howard Bender
