Collin Cowgill (Face/Thumb) is expected to return from the disabled list in a couple of weeks.

Cowgill broke his thumb and fractured his nose on the same pitch -- an up-and-in bunt attempt. Neither injury required surgery, so his timetable has been expedited. ANALYST:

Lorenzo Cain (Hamstring) is not in the Game 1 starting lineup.

Cain has been dealing with a hamstring issue and will not play Game 1 of the the doubleheader. Paulo Orlando will start in centerfield after being recalled yesterday. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Athletics recall OF Jake Smolinski from Nashville and have optioned RHP Chris Bassitt.

Chris Bassitt was sent back down and a good spot start. With the short week and a healthier Sonny Gray, Bassitt will not be needed. Oakland calls up Smolinski, who had seen time in Texas before heading west this year. He is more of a body than a fantasy add incase of injury. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Jake Odorizzi (oblique) said he felt good in his last rehab start for advanced Class A Charlotte, allowing two hits over 5 2/3 shutout innings.

Odorizzi will make a start later this week for Tampa, meaning Erasmo Ramirez or Alex Colome will be moved to the bullpen. He was only 4-5, but not because of his efforts with a 2.47 ERA and 1.8 WAR in 12 starts. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Andrew Miller allowed two hits and struck out one in one inning of work in his first minor league rehab game.

Miller is working his way back after being shut down by the Yankees and is beginning rehab at Scranton. Dellin Betances has filled in well for New York with their closer out, but the Yanks will hope to have Miller back soon after the All-Star break. Analysis: Rob Trayah

The Green Bay Packers have no plans to release tight end Andrew Quarless despite the six-year veteran's arrest last weekend in Miami.

Quarless was arrested after discharging two rounds from a gun in public. His not-so-bright move won't cost him his job, yet. With the way the NFL is leaning these days, time will tell if Quarless will still be with the Packers when the season comes around. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Manu Ginobili has agreed with the Spurs on 2 years for $5.6 million.

Ginobili announced on his Twitter that he would be returning to the Spurs and this is the official contract. He signs a very team friendly deal as the Spurs have stockpiled talent including LaMarcus Aldridge and David West to help navigate the Western Conference. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Following Monday's game, RHP Sean O'Sullivan was outrighted. RHP Hector Neris has been recalled from Lehigh Valley.

O'Sullivan wasn't long for the major league squad after a run of bad outings including Monday night's six earned runs in 5 1/3 innings. His ERA sits at 6.08 and holds a 1.61 WHIP. He had no fantasy value with a 1-6 record and will need to work on a lot of his game if he is to return to Philadelphia this year. Hector Neris was called up to take his place on the major league roster. Analysis: Rob Trayah

The Angels have reached out to the Athletics about both Josh Reddick and Ben Zobrist.

For Oakland to even entertain either one of their otufielders, the return will be high. Add the fact that the A's would have to sell in their division and the price should be enormous. The main goal for the Angels is to add a left-handed bat, one that is missing from their lineup. It might be a few more weeks, however, with the deadline approaching before a move is actually made involving either Reddick or Zobrist. Analysis: Rob Trayah

For his next contract, Demaryius Thomas wants Calvin Johnson money. Which is $16 million per season and $48 million guaranteed.

Thomas has been a big part of the success in Denver and now wants to be rewarded for it. With Julius Thomas and Wes Welker moving on, Thomas becomes even more of an integral part of the offense and wants to be paid like a top-tier No. 1 wideout. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Doug Fister gave up eight hits, but only allowed two runs, one earned, in six innings of work while striking out two on Monday against Cincinnati.

Fister had a quiet outing on Monday, giving up eight hits, but holding Washington in the game, but picked up the no-decision. His ERA sits at 4.08 on the season with a 1.38 WHIP in just a 11 starts after missing most of the season with a variety of injuries. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Danny Espinosa was 2-for-4 with a solo home run on Monday against the Reds.

Espinosa collected his second straight multi-hit game and first home run since June 5. With Anthony Rendon continuing to be out, Espinosa has filled in nicely in terms of fantasy, with nine homers and 25 RBI in 244 AB. His .786 OPS is a nice cover while the other All-Star second baseman remains out of the lineup. Analysis: Rob Trayah
