FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

Allen Craig is not in the Cardinals' starting lineup on Saturday.

No surprise here as Craig takes a seat in favor of Oscar Taveras in right field. The Cardinals will continue to flip-flop between Taveras and Craig until one of them catches fire and outplays the other. Right now, though, both are playing a fairly weak game.ANALYST: Howard Bender

Dallas Keuchel tossed another gem on Monday, allowing just one earned run on five hits while walking two and striking out a season high eight over eight innings but the Astros fell to the Rangers 2-1.

Keuchel was just named the American League Pitcher of the Month as he now sits at 3-0 with a 0.80 ERA and 0.76 WHIP over his first six starts of the season. Last year was coming out party for Keuchel as he ranked among the biggest breakout stars of the season and hes quickly putting to rest anybody doubted if he could repeat that production. A groundball machine Keuchel could help out his fantasy owners by improving upon his 5.4 K/9 ratio but for now theres not much else they could ask for from the American Leagues top pitcher. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Neftali Feliz pitched a perfect ninth inning, striking out two without allowing a baserunner to earn his third save of the season in the Rangers 2-1 win over the Astros on Monday.

Save chances have been hard to come by for the Rangers this season and Feliz hasn't always been at his best which has likely frustrated fantasy owners as he has already blown two saves. Once one of the games best closers, Feliz was dealt a blow when he was forced to undergo Tommy John surgery in 2012 after saving 72 games over the previous two seasons. Feliz saved 13 games last season following the trade of Joakim Soria to the Tigers and proved that he could still be the dominant closer of old so owners should not give up on him yet. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Jake Peavy is planning to throw two more bullpen sessions this week before he begins his rehab assignment.

Peavy threw off a mound at Saturday, reportedly around 70-80 percent. He threw only fastballs, but he came out of it unscathed. He continues to advance through his program and he seems close to starting his rehab assignment. He will return to the Giants rotation when healthy, whenever that may be. Analysis: Colby Conway

Ross Detwiler dominated the Astros on Monday, allowing just one earned run on four hits while walking one and striking out seven over seven innings in the Rangers 2-1 win.

This was a very surprising performance from Detwiler who came into the game with a 0-3 record and 8.66 ERA over his first four starts only to silence one of baseballs top run scoring offenses. Detwiler was once a promising prospect of the Nationals system but failed to find a role with the major league club and struggled at times which saw him head to the Rangers. Its unlikely to expect this type of outing again given his past performances but the talent was once there so maybe its worth adding to your watch list for now.  Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Colts DE Gannon Conway was waived on Monday.

Conway was signed by the Dolphins as undrafted free agent in 2014. He will likely be a regular practice squad player for the team who signs him, therefore, he gathers no fantasy value in even the deepest of IDP leagues. Analysis: Colby Conway

Justin Verlander's latest MRI on his strained right triceps muscle has been scheduled for Tuesday.

The results of this MRI will give us a better indication of when a possible return date for Verlander to return. All Verlander has done recently has been classified as "extremely light toss" by manager Brad Ausmus. He seems multiple weeks from returning, best case scenario. Analysis: Colby Conway

Manager John Farrell says Hanley Ramirez is day-to-day. He is hoping for improvement and no disabled list.

Han-Ram hurt his shoulder while trying to make a play on a fly ball. However, what is concerning is that it is the same shoulder he has had issues with in the past. He will take a few days off and then will likely be re-evaluated. Owners of Ramirez will likely have to find a stopgap option, hopefully for just a few days at the most. Analysis: Colby Conway

Neil Ramirez (shoulder) is close to throwing a bullpen session.

Ramirez, who has been bothered by shoulder inflammation since April, appears to be advancing in the right direction. He continues through his rehab program, but he is still a couple weeks from a return. When he does return, he will be a set-up man in the Chicago bullpen. Analysis: Colby Conway

Ian Desmond went 1-for-4 smacking his second home run of the season with a pair of RBI and one run scored against the Marlins on Monday.

Desmond has been off to a slow start as he is now slashing .236/.302/.377 with just two home runs and seven RBI through his first 106 at-bats, but has logged three extra-base hits over his last two games. Even if this recent flash of power is not sustainable, Desmond remains a must-start in all fantasy formats considering he has been a member of the 20/20 club three straight seasons.  Analysis: Matthew Beck

Tanner Roark earned his first save of the season after pitching a scoreless ninth inning, including two strikeouts, against the Marlins on Monday.

Roark was used in his first save situation on Monday night and sat the Marlins' lineup down in order as he continues to do a respectable job no matter what way the Nationals decide to use him. He is now sitting on a 3.21 ERA, 1.36 WHIP through 14 innings but unless he is used more in the ninth inning, there is little to no fantasy value to be found in Roark at this time.  Analysis: Matthew Beck

Jordan Zimmermann allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits and no walks while striking out four batters in Monday's no-decision against the Marlins.

Zimmermann settled for his second no-decision in three games on Monday night as he is now sitting 2-2 with a 4.15 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and a 22: 6 K:BB through his first six starts. Although his start to the season has not going as planned, Zimmermann remains a must-start in all fantasy formats as his luck will turn back kin his favor at some point base on his track record and his unfortunate .279 BAA in the early going. He will look to get back in the win column when he takes on the Braves on Sunday. Analysis: Matthew Beck
