FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

Yu Darvish gave up one run, five hits, three walks and punched out 12 over 6.2 innings in the 5-1 win over the Blue Jays Friday night.

The win was his first in three starts as he improved to 9-5 on the season. The 12 strikeouts tied his season high and was the 26th time in his career, sixth this season, that he registered 10 or more strikeouts in a game. Darvish's next start will be on Wednesday in New York against the Yankees.rnrnANALYST: Michael Pichan

Nate McLouth is near the final stages in the recovery of his surgically repaired right shoulder.

McLouth's first season in Washington never got off the ground as shoulder inflammation lingered through much of the season. McLouth will likely serve as a backup outfielder for the team with Denard Span, Bryce Harper, Jayson Werth (when healthy) and Michael Taylor seeing the majority of the action.  Analysis: Colby Conway

Damjan Rudez will start ahead of C.J. Miles on Sunday.

While Rudez got the starting nod in this game, he shouldn't receive that justice in your lineup. He's only averaging 4.6 points per game on the year and doesn't have a large role in the Indiana offense. Analysis: Colby Conway

Carl Landry will get another start for the injured DeMarcus Cousins.

Cousins is dealing with a hip/ankle issue that will require him to miss consecutive games. Cousins is a great player when on the court, as his season averages of 23.7 points and 12.2 rebounds per game are exceeding his career averages. Cousins could be a prized piece this offseason if the Kings decide to give him a new scenery. Analysis: Colby Conway

In Lloyd McClendon's eyes, Austin Jackson represents the spark the Mariners' offense needs this year. And to make sure his catalyst performs at a high level throughout the season, the Seattle skipper plans to give Jackson a few extra days off this summer.

McClendon isn't asking much of Jackson. He wants Jackson to hit around .270 and get on base at a high clip. McClendon said he doesn't need him to be the guy that hits 25 home runs out of the leadoff spot, but he wouldn't complain if he did smack that many long balls. Jackson is expected to play less than 154 games this season as they want to preserve him for the long haul. Analysis: Colby Conway

The Yankees will play a Grapefruit League game on Tuesday against the Phillies. Whether Alex Rodriguez will be in the lineup both days is still a matter of conjecture.

It is unsure when Rodriguez will suit up for the team this spring, but that date appears to be coming up soon. The 39-year old hasn't hit more than 20 home runs since the 2010 year, but owners could find value late in the draft by taking a chance on Rodriguez. Keep in mind, he averaged a home run every 22.2 at bats in 2014, so value could be there if he finds a regular spot in the team's lineup. Analysis: Colby Conway

Kelly Olynyk (ankle) will not play Sunday's game against the Warriors.

It was first rumored that Olynyk could be available for this game, but the 23-year old Canadian will miss another game. He has appeared in 40 of the team's 55 games and the ankle has kept him out action since January 22nd. Tyler Zeller, Brandon Bass and Jonas Jerebko will continue to see substantial minutes in Olynyk's absence. Analysis: Colby Conway

Max Scherzer threw his first live batting-practice session Sunday at the club's Spring Training complex, and he looked like he was in midseason form. Scherzer's fastball was crisp, and he had a slider that was going down in the zone effectively.

Washington couldn't be any happier with this performance. Scherzer is making an already strong rotation even stronger and he should remain a fantasy ace in 2015. Scherzer will also have a better defense behind him in Washington as opposed to Detroit, which could allow his fantasy excellence to rise even more. Analysis: Colby Conway

Taijuan Walker will start the Mariners Cactus league opener Wednesday.

Walker will be competing for a rotation spot this spring and he will get the first chance to shine. The 22-year old has some solid fantasy potential if he can figure things out and beat out Roenis Elias. Walker struggled in 2014, particularly with his command and that will need to improve if he wants to stick in the rotation. Analysis: Colby Conway

Andrew Bogut will play Sunday after previously having been scheduled for the night off.

Bogut will play in this game as he only played in 19 minutes in the team's victory against the Raptors on Friday. Bogut's scheduled day off will now likely come Monday when the team plays Brooklyn. He hasn't been putting up fantasy worthy numbers and he is a low end option at the center position. Analysis: Colby Conway

Casey McGhee was one of four Giants starters to face Tim Lincecum during a live BP session on Sunday. Afterward, McGehee said he was encouraged by what he saw.

Pretty much anything would be encouraging considering Lincecum had a 4.74 ERA last season. He hasn't had an ERA under 4.00 since 2011, and there is no reason to believe that pitcher is ever coming back. He is nothing more than an NL-only play at this stage of his career.  Analysis: Steve Pimental

Joel Freeland (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game.

Freeland hasn't played since January 3, and his minutes will likely be extremely limited with LaMarcus Aldridge, Robin Lopez, Chris Kaman and Meyers Leonard all healthy. He should be ignored in all formats. Analysis: Steve Pimental

P.J. Hairston will be inactive Sunday.

Hairston has played just once in Charlotte's last nine games, so this hardly comes as any surprise. He did score a career-high 16 points in his last game, however, so he could have some upside if he ever gets back on the court. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Bismack Biyombo (knee) will play Sunday against the Magic.

Biyombo has been out since January 24 with his knee injury. He played pretty well when Al Jefferson was out, but now that Jefferson is back Biyombo has no value even in deep leagues. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Solomon Hill missed practiced yesterday due to illness, but head coach Frank Vogel says he's fine and will play Sunday.

The Pacers are so deep, especially on the wing, that guys like Solomon Hill and C.J. Miles are really only valuable if somebody else is hurt. Hill is fine for deep leagues though even that could come to an end if Paul Goerge can return in the regular season. Analysis: Steve Pimental
