Fantasy Player Updates & News  2016 MLB Draft Guide Is Here!

Free agent guard Xavier Henry is nearing agreement on a 1-year deal to return to the Lakers.

The Lakers just put Kendall Marshall on waivers which opens up space for the signing of Henry to the roster. Henry averaged 10.0 points and 2.7 rebounds over 21.1 minutes in 43 games for the Lakers last season.ANALYST: Jonathan Impemba

Breshad Perriman (knee) is expected to be ready for the offseason program.

Perriman missed 2015 due to a recurring PCL injury, but has made a smooth recovery. Given the Ravens' lack of receiving depth, Perriman could be quickly thrust into a big role next season. Analysis: Ben Diamond

Cowboys believe Byron Jones' best position is safety.

Jones was forced to play all over the field last season due to injuries, but the Cowboys will look to set up an alignment that will allow Jones to shine at safety this season. He could be in for a big season if Dallas can provide some stability on the field. Analysis: Ben Diamond

Eagles have not started contract negotiations with impending free agent Walter Thurmond.

The 28-year old will be a free agent this season, and while the Eagles plan to try and resign him, talks have not yet occurred. At this point, it sounds like the Eagles and Thurmond will have negotiations near the combine.  Analysis: Ben Diamond

Orioles appear to have basic framework of 3-year deal with Yovani Gallardo, though the sides are discussing options, opt-outs and other details.

The Orioles look to have a deal in place, so now it's just coming down to specifics. It's likely a 3-year deal without including opt-outs and options. The Orioles have come under fire for this signing, given Gallardo's future prospects and that the team is losing their first round draft pick as a result of the signing. Analysis: Ben Diamond

Reggie Bush (knee) expects to resume running in two weeks.

Bush suffered a torn ACL after slipping on the concrete at the Edwards Jones Dome in St. Louis. He's made good progress and should be ready for next season, though it's unclear if he'll have a team and a role. Analysis: Ben Diamond

Jason Gurka signed a minor league contract with the Rockies that includes an invitation to spring training.

Gurka, 28, had a 2.86 ERA between Double and Triple-A last season, making him an intriguing signing. He probably won't break camp with the club, but could get a shot during the season.  Analysis: Ben Diamond

Eagles released RB Matthew Tucker.

The 24-year old doesn't have a career carry, and has spent much of his career on the practice squad, He's now a free agent and will get a chance to sign with any team. Analysis: Ben Diamond

Brock Huntzinger signed a minor league contract with the Rockies that includes an invitation to spring training.

The 27-year old had a 4.63 ERA in Triple-A last season, and while he'll get an invitation to Spring Training this year, it's unlikely that Huntzinger makes the club out of camp. That said, the Rockies bullpen situation is expected to be very fluid this season, so he could get a shot. Analysis: Ben Diamond

Lions signed former Falcons 3rd round pick OL Lamar Holmes.

Holmes has played in 21 games over his career (19 starts), but has missed significant time over the past two seasons due to injury. He's a solid player and a nice contribution to the team, if he can stay healthy. Analysis: Ben Diamond

Denard Span will start in center field and lead off for the Giants this season.

Span was signed by the Giants this offseason and will play center field, pushing Angel Pagan to left field. Pagan is injury prone, so hopefully moving to a corner will help him out. This is a plus move defensively for the team as well. Analysis: Ben Diamond

Broncos WR Jace Davis was released.

Davis, 24, was an undrafted free agent last season and has spent time with several teams. He hasn't played in an NFL game, though, and is likely to end up on a practice squad next season. Analysis: Ben Diamond

Jackson Williams signed a minor league contract with the Rockies that includes an invitation to spring training.

The 29-year old unfortunately is with a team deep in catchers, but his .228 average in Double-A last year for the Giants didn't give Williams a great chance to stick with any team.  Analysis: Ben Diamond

Panthers voided the contract of safety Roman Harper.

Harper has started at strong safety for the Panthers, but his age and contract combination just isn't worth keeping around for the Panthers.  Analysis: Ben Diamond
