Fantasy Player Updates & News

Kevin Garnett wants to return to Brooklyn and the Nets feelings are mutual.

Garnett still has a year left on his contract so it's nice to see that he will honor it and not force a trade. The team can now move forward and take care of the rest of their offfseason business.ANALYST: Howard Bender

Stephen Vogt is not in the Athletics' starting lineup on Saturday.

I would appear to just be a day of rest for Vogt who finished up Friday 2-for-5 with a home run. The backstop is now slashing .309/.408/.610 on the season which, as amazing as it is, especially for a catcher, is likely to start to come back to Earth soon enough. Analysis: Howard Bender

Terrence Ross underwent surgery Friday to remove bone spurs and loose bodies from his left ankle.

Ross is expected to be ready for the regular season, but it is possible that he misses the start of training camp if there even any minor complications. Once healthy though, he should be ready to go and at full strength. Analysis: Howard Bender

Update: Johnny Cueto's start has been pushed back because he has been bothered by general stiffness.

The Reds are pretty vague here with the "general stiffness" tag here. Cueto has had shoulder problems in the past, so if it's his shoulder, that should be of serious concern. Continue to monitor the situation and see if the team divulges anything new over the weekend. Analysis: Howard Bender

Derek Holland will begin a throwing program in next several days, but it could be two to three weeks before he is able to throw off a mound.

Holland's progress from spinal fusion surgery has been slow but steady. Once the throwing program kicks in we'll have a better idea for a return timetable. If he's two or three weeks away from throwing off a mound then he's at least a month and a half away from a rehab assignment, let alone a trip to the majors. Analysis: Howard Bender

Jose Bautista (shoulder) continues to make slow progress with his throwing.

Bautista has slowly been ramping up his level of activity but is still a little ways away from returning to the outfield. He threw from 40 feet earlier in the week and will continue to slow increase the distance. He's still DHing though and that's what's most important for the fantasy community. Analysis: Howard Bender

Noah Syndergaard will start Wednesday against Philadelphia on normal rest.

With Dillon Gee coming back from the DL, the Mets have decided to employ a six-man rotation in order to help limit the innings of Syndergaard and Matt Harvey.Exactly where Gee will slot in is not yet known but the assumption is that he'll pitch right before the rookie. Analysis: Howard Bender

Raisel Iglesias will start for the Reds on Sunday.

Iglesias has been used out of the bullpen twice since his last start 10 days ago, and has given up three earned runs in three innings in that time. That being said, Iglesias was fairly solid in his two starts this season, going 1-0 with a 2.77 ERA and a 9/5 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 13 innings pitched. Analysis: Brad Costilo

Johnny Cueto will no longer be making his scheduled start on Sunday.

There is no indication that Cueto is dealing with an injury, but he has been mentioned repeatedly in possible trade discussions this season. Whether this is a routine day off/extra rest day for their ace, or a precursor to a major trade remains to be seen, but Cueto's fantasy owners will certainly want to keep an eye on the situation. Analysis: Brad Costilo

Matt Moore said he's not sure of next step in his rehab schedule yet, but expects it will be either another extended spring training game or rehab start.

Moore has successfully completed bullpen work, and looks to be in line for some game action in the coming week. While there is no official time-table set for Moore's return to the Rays, it looks like a June return is likely, barring any setbacks.  Analysis: Brad Costilo

Brad Miller is not in the Mariners starting lineup on Saturday.

This is the second time this week that Smith has been left out of the starting lineup when facing a left-handed starting pitcher. The right-handed Chris Taylor, who is 1-for-2 in his career against starter Mark Buehrle, will get the start (and hit eigth) in Miller's place.  Analysis: Brad Costilo

Seth Smith is not in the Mariners starting lineup on Saturday.

This is the second time this week that Smith has been left out of the starting lineup when facing a left-handed starting pitcher. The right-handed Rickie Weeks, who is 0-for-3 in his career against starter Mark Buehrle, will get the start (and hit leadoff) in Smith's place. Analysis: Brad Costilo

Leonys Martin is not in the Rangers starting lineup on Saturday.

There's no indication that Martin's being given the day off is related to the wrist injury he was dealing with earlier this week, but it is something that his fantasy owners will want to keep an eye on. Delino Deshields Jr. will make the start in Center Field in Martin's place. Analysis: Brad Costilo
