UPDATES & NEWS
Collin Cowgill left Saturday's game after being hit by a pitch in the nose.
We'll get a update as soon as possible, but obviously we're looking at a potential broken nose, facial lacerations and more. At least we're coming up on the break and he'll be afforded some time off before the team has to decide on whether a DL stint will be necessary.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Yunel Escobar said his groin is improving and will work out prior to Sunday's game.
The MRI on Escobar came back clean, so that's great news. He's still not 100-percent though and will continue to be held out. Escobar believes that he can avoid the DL and will work out prior to the game to prove it. Obviously though, if he doesn't show the improvement in the workout, the team could hold him out a little while longer. The club can go with Danny Espinosa at third and Dan Uggla at second. They also called up Emanuel Burris who can play all over the infield. Analysis: Howard Bender
Manager Terry Collins said Juan Lagares could hit leadoff in a month.
Ideally, Collins would love to have Lagares' speed atop the lineup, but with an inconsistent OBP which is just .301 over the last three seasons, Collins will mix and match with others who have batted leadoff before. Curtis Granderson is atop the order Sunday and Lagares is hitting out of the six-hole. Keep an eye on Lagares' on-base skills. Should they improve, he'll get the nod which means more at-bats and hopefully, better production. Analysis: Howard Bender
