A.J. Burnett won on Friday allowing two runs on five hits and four walks with six strikeouts over 7.2 innings against the Nationals.
Burnett picked up his first victory in four starts (1-2) to improve to 6-8 in 20 starts this season. Walks continue to be an issue as he has allowed 13 free passes over his last four starts, but with that his strikeout rate as increased. The righty punched out six or more for the fourth consecutive time Friday after not exceeding four strikeouts in his four previous leading up to this new streak. If AJB can keep up the strikeouts while continuing to limit the home runs (served up his first five outings Friday) he could prove to be a sneaky second-half provider for fantasy owners.
