Carmelo Anthony has narrowed his options down to the Knicks and Bulls. He is no longer considering the Lakers.

Falcons are expected to release RB Steven Jackson Friday.

After rushing for over 1,000 yards in eight straight seasons for the Rams, Jackson has been an utter disappointment for the Falcons. While he did score 12 touchdowns with the team, he only amassed 1,250 yards in 27 games. He should find himself in a backup role with a new team in 2015. Analysis: David Kerr

Redskins signed DL Ricky Jean Francois to a three-year deal.

Francois had two years left on his deal with Indianapolis, but the team chose to release him and save money in the process. It's likely that Francois will be a rotational player for Washington. Analysis: David Kerr

Wily Mo Pena has signed with Japan's Rakuten Golden Eagles.

Another year, another foreign team for Wily Mo Pena. He hasn't played in the majors since 2011 and it seems unlikely that he ever will again. His best season came as a 22-year-old in 2004 when he hit 26 home runs for the Reds. Analysis: David Kerr

Tanner Scheppers missed most of last season with a strained right elbow, but he has shown no ill-effects this spring.

Scheppers posted a 9.00 ERA last season prior to his elbow issue, but owned a sparkling ERA of 1.88 in 2013. If he is healthy, he will head to the Rangers bullpen and should be a valuable asset as the team looks to rebounds this year. Analysis: David Kerr

Shin-Soo Choo (ankle/elbow) is doing everything the other outfielders are doing. He is just not trying to push it full speed yet.

It's early in spring training, so there is no need for Choo to push himself to the limit. He is hoping for a huge rebound after batting .242 last year. If Choo is able to stay healthy over a full season, he will be a solid source of average, homers, and stolen bases. Analysis: David Kerr

Blue Jays have agreed to a minor-league deal with Johan Santana.

Santana is hoping to make a comeback after missing the last two seasons due to a major shoulder injury. It doesn't seem likely that he will open the season on Toronto's 25-man roster, but if he proves to be healthy and pitches well this spring, it isn't out of the realm of possibility.  Analysis: David Kerr

Mitch Moreland )ankle) has been working out all winter, but the Rangers still want him to take it slowly, especially with the running.

Moreland went down with an ankle injury last June, so it isn't a surprise that the Rangers want him to use caution. If he is able to stay healthy this season, he will be a decent source of power out of the DH slot. Analysis: David Kerr

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said he'll likely rest Andrew Bogut and Andre Iguodala at some point during this road trip, but not Thursday against Cleveland.

With Las Vegas predicting a close, high scoring game, the Warriors are going to want all of their weapons at their disposal on Thursday night. Golden State will play the Celtics on Sunday, so that is likely when Bogut and Iguodala will take a seat. Analysis: David Kerr

Manager Lloyd McClendon thinks Logan Morrison is a guy who has a chance to hit 25 home runs and drive in 100 for the Mariners.

Morrison has always had a decent pedigree, but he seems to always be injured. Back in 2011, Morrison was able to hit 23 home runs, but hasn't appeared in more than 99 games in a given season since that time. It will be interesting to see how Morrison fares this spring as he absolutely has 25 home run power. Analysis: David Kerr

Update: Santiago Casilla went for an X-ray after taking a liner off his leg Thursday.

At this point in time, Casilla is scheduled to enter the season as San Francisco's closer, but that could change if he misses any time due to injury. Consider Casilla to be day-to-day for now, but we should have a further update regarding his status on Friday. Analysis: David Kerr

Coach George Karl says Nik Stauskas may get more playing time soon.

With George Karl now at the helm for Sacramento, it seems likely that he will give extended playing time to some different players. As long as Darren Collison is sidelined, there's a good chance that Stauskas will see more time on the court. Though he has played in 51 games this season, Stauskas is averaging just 3.4 points per game. Analysis: David Kerr

Coach Dwane Casey said Kyle Lowry is dealing with "nagging" injuries. "Kyle probably needs some rest, but I don't know how we rest him"

Toronto is currently hanging on to the second seed in the Eastern Conference, so resting Lowry due to minor, nagging injuries isn't really an option at this point. It would be logical to think that Lowry could get a day off if the Raptors are facing a much lesser opponent, but that is to be determined. Analysis: David Kerr Mobile App
