Ian Desmond (hand) is not in the Nationals starting lineup on Friday.

Desmond was hit on the hand by Orioles reliever Darren O'Day late in the game and while x-rays were negative, he is still dealing with some swelling and will sit out Friday's game. Consider him day-to-day for now. Danny Espinosa will replace him at shortstop.ANALYST: Howard Bender

Alex Colome still hasn't reported to camp due to a visa issue.

The Rays currently have Colome penciled in as their fifth starter, but obviously now have growing concerns because of this visa issue. The sooner he gets things taken care of the sooner he gets into camp and can start working. The team is obviously hoping that he is adhering to his workout program while still at home. Analysis: Howard Bender

Kyle Blanks (both Achilles) continues to progress toward seeing game action in the middle or late next week.

Blanks is a dark horse to make the Rangers 25-man roster, so the sooner he gets on the field, the better his chances are of potentially landing a gig as a back-up 1B/OF. It's a tough road he's going down, so keep your expectations in check. Analysis: Howard Bender

Colts announced the team will not re-sign wide receiver Reggie Wayne.

It's either the retirement home or another team, but Wayne's days in Indianapolis are officially over. The Colts are rebuilding and as important as Wayne has been to the team in recent history, everyone knew the end was near. Expect Wayne to make a decision regarding his future soon. Analysis: Howard Bender

Marques Colston has restructured his contract to remain with the Saints

Colston would prefer to stay with the Saints and in their good graces as he knows working with Drew Brees is a sure-fire way to help rebuild his stats. So long as he is healthy, Colston remains a viable option as a WR2/3 in most formats. Analysis: Howard Bender

Omar Infante (elbow) was scratched from Friday's lineup.

Infante continues to try and work his way back from last season's elbow injury but he and the Royals are going to take it slow. The hope is that he's on the field for enough spring games to open the season as the starting second baseman, but if he is unable to do so Christian Colon could earn a spot on the 25-man roster and see some time in the field. Analysis: Howard Bender

Michael Saunders (knee) threw on flat ground for the second straight day Friday.

Sounds like nice progress is being made here as Saunders is currently recovering from surgery that saw 60-percent of his meniscus removed. He isn't going to start the season on-time, but the Blue Jays believe that he can come back before the end of April. Analysis: Howard Bender

Joey Votto will return to the Reds lineup on Saturday.

Votto is still easing himself back into action as knee and quad issues have certainly taken their toll. The Reds will handle him with caution but he should be more than fine for Opening Day. Analysis: Howard Bender
