Manny Machado went 3-for-4 with a solo home run against the Nationals on Wednesday.
Machado is now 12-for-21 (.571 BA) with two home runs, three RBI and four runs scored over his last four games as he continues to put together a nice start to July. However, he is still sitting on a .269 average with only nine home runs and 20 RBI on the season, so there is still plenty to be desired in regards to his fantasy value, but this is certainly a nice beginning to what could be a solid second half for this youngster. Marc Krauss went 1-for-4 with a solo home run on Thursday in Toronto.
Krauss is hitting only .150 with a .350 slugging percentage after launching his first home run of the season. It was just his seventh game of the season, but there’s no doubt he’ll need to cut down on the strikeouts if he’s ever going to be able to showcase the decent pop he has. The left-handed hitter was called up from AAA to try and infuse some offense in Anaheim and was slugging .639 over his past 10 games. With Matt Joyce really struggling, expect Krauss to steal some of his at-bats over the next few weeks. Analysis: Kevin Luchansky
