George Springer went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and a run scored during the Astros' 8-4 win over the Rangers on Wednesday.
Springer has now homered in back-to-back games, bringing his season total up to 19 home runs with 50 RBI through 282 at-bats. He has struggled with the strikeout in his first season in the big leagues sitting on a 38.7 percent strikeout rate, but the good has certainly outweighed the bad in his case as he remains on track to reach 30-plus home runs and 100 RBI in his rookie season. Chris Iannetta went 2-for-4 with a grand slam against Detroit on Thursday.
Like several of his teammates, Iannetta has been bitten by the bad BABIP bug so far this season. However, Iannetta strikes out too much to ever help out in the batting average category. But he may not be as much of a drag going forward. The more concerning issue is his power, which, going back to last season, has been significantly reduced in his last 500 plate appearances. On the wrong side of 30, Iannetta may not see his power stroke return. Analysis: Brett Talley
