Yasiel Puig said he has accepted invite to participate in HR Derby.
The Derby will be nice for Puig as he'll be able to showboat in usual fashion without having someone throw at him for admiring a hit. Hopefully he doesn't let it affect his swing.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Clippers have agreed to a deal with Paul Pierce.
Pierce is joining up with Doc Rivers in L.A. where he will likely find himself in a similar role that he had with the Wizards last season. With Washington Pierce averaged 11.9 points, 2.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 three-pointers over 26.2 minutes per game but came up big time during the playoffs, averaging 14.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.3 three-pointers per game. The "Truth" will bring plenty of playoff experience and clutch shot making ability to a team which has failed to meet expectations in the postseason. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba
Robinson Cano went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBI, and two runs scored on Wednesday afternoon against the Padres.
Getting clocked in the head on Sunday must have knocked something back into place for the perennial All-Star second baseman, as on Wednesday afternoon he went 4-for-5 with three RBI and a triple shy of the cycle. The home run was his fifth of the season, and the best sign of all was that it was hit the opposite way with some serious authority. Cano’s issue for most of this season is that he appeared pull happy, where he would often roll his hands over and couldn’t protect the outside part of the plate. If he can continue going the other way and peppering the ball all over the yard like he did on Wednesday afternoon, expect yet another historic second half for the second baseman. Analysis: Dom Murtha
